Salaam wana JF , ni weekend (Alfajiri huku nipo) nimechukua a day off hospitali nipate kupumzika , nataka kuwaandikia makala kuhusu Diabetes through experience toka kwa wagonjwa and what i had learned med. school 3 years ago.

Diabetes ni nini..?

Simply ni chronic disease marked by high levels of sugar in the blood... ninaposema chronic namaanisha (lifelong)

Nini kinasababisha Diabetes...?

Unapozungumzia Diabetes huwezi ukakosa kuitaja Insulin.

Insulin
ni hormone inayozalishwa na pancreas to control blood sugar. Diabetes can be caused by too little insulin, resistance to insulin, or both.

To understand diabetes, it is important to first understand the normal process by which food is broken down and used by the body for energy. Several things happen when food is digested:

1) A sugar called glucose enters the bloodstream. Glucose ni source of fuel for the body.

2) An organ called the pancreas makes insulin. The role of insulin is to move glucose from the bloodstream into muscle, fat, and liver cells, where it can be used as fuel.

Watu wenye Diabetes wanakuwa na High Blood Suger (BP) na hii inatokana na -

1) Pancrease haitengenezi Insulin ya kutusha

2) Their muscle, fat, and liver cells do not respond to insulin normally

3) could be both Above


Kuna aina 3 za Diabetes -

1) Twaita Type 1 diabetes - usually diagnosed in childhood. Many patients are diagnosed when they are older than age 20. In this disease, the body makes little or no insulin. kwa hiyo Daily injections of Insulin is needed for this type of diabeties. The exact cause is unknown mpaka sasa but it could be
- genetics
-virus
- And without a doubt autoimmune could play a big role

2) Type 2 diabetes - hii ni maarufu na more common than type one. Mara nyingi yatokea ukubwani, but hata vijana sometimes watakuwa diagnised nii type of Diabetes.

Kinachotekea hapa ni kwamba Pancrease does not make enough insulin to keepblood glucose level normal, often because the body does not respond well to insulin. Many people with type 2 diabetes do not know they have it, although it is a serious condition

This type of diabetes inaongezeka kipindi cha miaka ya hivi karibuni kutokana watu wanaongezeka unene (Obesity) Na kutokufanya mazoezi.

3) Aina ya mwisho twaita Gestational diabetes - Inawatokea kina mama wajawazito (during pregnancy ) ambao walikuwa hawana diabetes kabla kushika mimba. Women who have gestational diabetes are at high risk of type 2 diabetes and caridiovasculer disease (magonjwa ya moyo) hapo baadaye.

kuna risk factors nyingi mno za Type 2 Diabetes baadhi ni -

1) Umri zaidi ya miaka 45

2) Kuna mtu katika family , kaka, dada, mama, baba.. mwenye Type 2 Diabetes

3) Mtu mwenye Ugonjwa wa Moyo ni rahisi kupata aina hii ya Diabetes

4) High Blood cholestral Leval

5) Unene kupita kiasi (Obesity)

6)kukosa kufanya mazoezi

7) kwa wanawake wenye polycystic Ovary Disease

8) Previous impaired glucose tolerance

Ni nini Dalili za huu ugonjwa -

1) Blurry Vision (sijui kiswahili chake)

2) kupata kiu cha kunywa maji mara nyingi ( Excessive thirst)

3) Kujihisi kuchoka

4) Frequent urination ( kwenda choo kidogo "kukujoa" mara yingi kuliko kawaida)

5)Njaa ndani ya muda mfupi baada ya kupata chakula

6) Weight loss

P.S- Type 2 Diabetes mara nyingine ina develop taratibu without any of the above symptoms .

Utajuaje hii ni Type 1 or 2 ... nenda katika zahati iliyokaribu nawe . Ishi katika safe side tusiruhusu miili yetu kunenepa ovyo, tule vyakula vya afya (healthy food) na tujitahidi kufanya mazoezi hata kuzunguka round 2 katika kiwanja kila jioni .. it will take you less than 30min to do that.

Asante sana kwa maelezo mazuri. Ni vyakula vya aina gani inabidi tujizuie kuvitumia kwa sana ili tusiwe katika risk zaidi?
 
Mimi nina diabetes type 2 miaka 13 sasa,nina afya nzuri,nafanya mazoezi,nameza dawa na kupima kila mara nyumbani(mashine ni elfu 50 tu). Nawashauri wanaopata huu ugonjwa wasikate tamaa,wapunguze sio kuacha kula vitu vya wanga na kuacha vitu vitamu,kunywa maji mengi na kulala masaa 7-8 kwasiku.Kama ni mnene punguza uzito,nilifarijika nilipokutana na mzee wa 78yrs hospitali mwenye afya nzuri na amekuwa na kisukari kwa miaka 35.

Masharti ya vyakula yalikuwa magumu zamani lakini siku hizi tunaambiwa tule vyakula vya kawaida lakini tupunguze wanga kama wali/ugali/mkate mweupe,vitu vitamu tuache,chumvi kidogo sana.Badala ya kula milo mitatu mikubwa ni vizuri kula milo 5 midogo.
