Court Upholds Salim Uhuru’s Election as Kampala Central Mayor

The High Court has upheld NRM’s Salim Uhuru Nsubuga’s election as Kampala Central Mayor after dismissing a petition filed by his opponent, Moses Kataabu, for being filed outside the statutory timeframe.

Justice Flavia Nabakooza Kalungi ruled that the court could not extend the deadline to accommodate the petition, which was dismissed without consideration of its merits.

The judge’s decision means the challenge was rejected on procedural grounds rather than an examination of the allegations against the election.

The court ordered each party to bear its own legal costs.
