Kibanda North County MP Linos Ngompek has urged the government to address rising condom prices, warning that protection is becoming unaffordable for low-income Ugandans.
Ngompek raised the concern during a parliamentary session, noting that prices have increased from Shs 500 to Shs 1,500, with some condoms costing as much as Shs 5,000.
He warned that rising costs could make it harder for vulnerable citizens to access essential sexual health and HIV prevention products.
Earlier this year, public health officials indicated that Uganda was not facing an immediate risk of condom stockouts or severe price shocks despite global manufacturing pressures.
