Depite a looming threat of food insecurity, the prospects for the East African economy in 2014 is generally good. This is because the drags of the region that is Kenya and Uganda have turned north and will join the club of robust growers. Inflation is low and is not expected to cross the single digit mark this year. The on going shift from rain-fed agriculture in Kenya to irrigation could ameliorate the situation in the second half of the year.
