As the security agencies move to unravel the puzzle surrounding the spate of bombings across the country, the latest of which was the suicide bombing that rocked the police headquarters in Abuja, the immediate past governor of Kano State, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau is optimistic the Boko Haram sect, believed to be behind the terror acts, can be defeated.

The words of assurance from the presidential candidate of the All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, in the April polls, came just as the president of Living Faith Church, (Winners Chapel), Bishop David Oyedepo, said the Federal Government should tackle the bomb attacks before Nigeria is set ablaze.
Shekarau said Boko Haram could be defeated through vigilance on the part of security agencies and intelligence gathering with the cooperation of the general public.
In a statement in Kano, yesterday, he described the action of the Islamic sect as' callous', adding that Nigerians should not cave in to fear amid the unfortunate incident.
The former governor stated that the brazen attack on the police headquarters should attract the condemnation of all peace loving citizens, adding, "I was saddened by the waste of precious lives".
The statement, signed by his spokesperson, Mallam Sule Yau Sule, commiserated with the victims of the twin blasts that claimed eight lives, and burning of over 73 cars at the Louis Edet House at the Federal Capital Territory.

Oyedepo described the bombing as a national issue and not that of religion and tasked the Federal Government to frontally tackle the challenge posed by the incident before they set the country ablaze.

He noted that the greatest problem confronting Nigeria as a nation is unemployment, saying, "if truly there is an al-Queda or a terrorist group staring us in the face with great potency, to determine our foundation as a nation, our integrity as a people and our dignity as individuals, it is this unemployment time bomb that I consider to be the greatest threat to our nationhood today.

This army of the unemployed is forming into a thick cloud of imminent holocaust and unless something is done urgently, we may be face to face with calamity. This is the case with the Arab world".

He spoke with journalists, on Friday, at Landmark University, Omu-Aran, Kwara State, at the maiden matriculation ceremony of students for the 2011/2012 academic session where a grand total of 953 were officially admitted.

According to him" I think that this Boko Haram menace has to be frontally dealt with, before they plunge the entire nation into a very serious crisis. Federal government should deal with the issue tactically, before they set the entire nation ablaze. Those who are behind the crisis should be fished out and dealt with; there should be no sympathy for them".

'Bombing, a satanic act'
Meanwhile, the president of Association of Industrial Security and Safety Operators of Nigeria (AISSON), Dr. Ona Ekhomu, has described the bombing of Louis Edet House as a "satanic act of terror and evil personified".
