The real difference can be seen when u use both the messenger on same plateform so here is my xperience while using the Whatsapp and BBM on newly launched Blackberry Z10.While this native app works very well,whatsApp lacks many of the features that BBM now has,including BBM voice and BBM video with screen share.BBM is also much more visually appealing with larger profile pictures and a grid view of ur contacts display pictures.
NOTE:WhatsApp is crossplatform(inakubali kwa simu tofauti na Blackberry)and BBM is not.Also I think it is fair to conclude that BBM is way ahead of WhatsApp in that sense.
