JUST IN: Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe and his cousin Tobias Matonhodze, who are facing attempted murder and immigration-related charges, have withdrawn their bail application at the Alexandra Magistrates Court in Johannesburg.
Their legal team has instead requested a plea negotiation, where the two would plead guilty in exchange for an agreed sentence. The process falls under Section 105A of the Criminal Procedure Act, a legal mechanism designed to speed up court proceedings and reduce trial costs.
The two remain in custody and are expected to return to court on March 17 for the plea negotiations.
