And its not Land locked and it has a river passing Right in the middle of it Making it The Best County for Farmers since Tana river is among the Largest Rivers in Africa Numerous Dams could be set up along its course and be utilised for irrigation-
And It has a population of 240,000 people

Belgium has a population of 11,000,000 people That is 2% ama??

So as that sinks in

Electricity

In comparison, the net installed generation capacity in Belgium is estimated to be 19,627 MW.

Importing a further 3500mw

Agriculture in Belgium

In 2013, there were 24 884 agricultural businesses in Flanders. Over the last ten years, the number has declined by 30%. That is a decrease of almost 4% per year. At the same time there was a continual increase in scale. In comparison to 2004, the average arable area per business has increased by 40% to 25 hectare. The livestock population per business is increasing, too. Nowadays an average cattle business counts 119 animals, a pig business 1 848 and a poultry business 47 092.

So let us Break this down Kenyans

The average Agricultural Land Per Farmer in Belgium is 25ha which is between 32-40acres

The average Heads of Cow per Farmer in belgium is 119 cows
Mind u Meat/ Dairy

(BTW I READ THE AVERAGE HEADS OF CATTLE PER FARMER IN SOUTH AFRICA IS 250 FOR BEEF AND 120 FOR DAIRY AGAINST A SUB SAHARAN AVERAGE OF 20 HEADS) Tunalala Kweli kweli Afrika

A Poultry farmer in Belgium on average has 47,000 hens in Kenya its 300 hens per farmer on average !!

Economic importance:

In 2013, the final production value of the Flemish agricultural and horticultural sectors’ sales activity was estimated at 5.5 billion euros. Of the total production value, livestock is good for 65%, horticulture 26% and arable farming 9%. The five most important agricultural products are pork (1.46 billion euros), dairy products (844 million euros), beef (712 million euros), vegetables (602 million euros) and ornamental horticulture products (512 million euros).
In 2013, 51 583 people were regularly employed in agriculture and horticulture. Because there are great many non-regular employees working in agriculture, such as seasonal workers and contractors, we count that figure among the full-time workers. Flemish agriculture and horticulture employs 41,141 full-time workers, or on average 1.65 per business. 34% of the full-time workers work in livestock businesses (dairy, pork, beef and poultry) 32% in horticultural businesses, 13% in arable crops businesses and 19% in mixed businesses.
In 2012, the gross value added of the primary sector (including forestry and fishery) had a 0.9% share in the total Flemish gross value added. In the European Union the average share is 1.7%.

so the 50,000 people employed into Farming in Flemish a single province in Belgium Produce Yearly
5.5bn € = 7.1bn$

In 2013, the total Belgian trade in agricultural products recorded a positive trade balance. Export is good for 39.4 billion euros, while import amounts to 34.5 billion euros. Some important export products are chocolate products (2.1 billion euros), potato preparations and pork (each 1.4 billion), beer and frozen vegetables (each 1.1 billion). Belgium has an 8% share of total agricultural exports from the EU-28 and thus holds the fifth place in the EU ranking, after Germany, the Netherlands, France and Spain. Flanders takes in account 80% of the Belgian agricultural exports.

Total Agricultural Export ya Belgium ni 37bn euros That is like 41bn$ Yearly and its
1/15 the size of Kenya hehehe

Kweli Africa Tunalala

Belgium Agricultural sector alone is equal to kenyas entire economy

And if we wanted we could be producing more than Belgium cause Kenya is Equal to France in Size -Huko hata tusiingie tutaenda kurukwa na Vichwa...

Kitu kimenishangaza ni kwamba

The average Belgium Farmer Has only between 30-40 acres of land I know people with 300 acres in Kenya na wana Zebu 1000 lakini wanakaa Nyumba ya matope wanatembea mguu tupu!!.....SMH!!

In israel the average Farmer Has half The farm size of a belgium Farmer

Ie

13.5ha of land On average (mean) area per farmer

The importance of agriculture in Israel's economy has fallen over time, accounting for decreasing values of GDP. In 1979, it accounted for just under 6% of GDP, in 1985 5.1%, and today, 2.5%. [5] In 1995, there were 43,000 farm units with an average size of 13.5 hectares. 19.8% of these were smaller than 1 hectare, 75.7% were 1 to 9 hectares in size, 3.3% were between 10 and 49 hectares, 0.4% were between 50 and 190 hectares, and 0.8% were larger than 200 hectares. [5] Of the 380,000 hectares under cultivation in 1995, 20.8% was under permanent cultivation and 79.2% under rotating cultivation.[5] Farm units included 160,000 hectares used for activities other than cultivation. Cultivation was based mainly in the
northern coastal plains , the hills of the interior , and the upper Jordan Valley.[5]
In 2006, agricultural output fell by 0.6% following a 3.6% rise in 2005; inputs for 2007 rose by 1.2% excluding wages. [6] Between 2004 and 2006, vegetables accounted for around 35% of total agricultural output. [6] Flowers made up around 20%, field crops made up around 18%, fruits (other than citrus), around 15%, and citrus fruits around 10%. [6] In 2006, 36.7% of agricultural output was for domestic consumption, 33.9% for domestic manufacturing, and 22% for direct export. [6] In 2006, 33% of vegetables, 27% of flowers, 16% of field crops, 15.5% of fruits other than citrus, and 9% of citrus fruits were exported.

There are a lot of factors to consider. These people may be having a more.. way more concerned and responsible govt. Like some dairy farmers in the U.S are given up to 1110%+ subsidy for their milk. Of course, they will sell faster and grow faster.Who can compete with that?!

But still they build slow

And if u try and compare right now

Kenyan Farmers are increasingly buying Tractors In Nakuru John Deera Holland and Massey Furgeson have Opened up two branches or expanded Their Base

A tractor is 4000000kes
That is like 40,000$

A borehole is 1.8mn KES to dig in Nakuru and in some areas inaenda mpaka 3.4mn KES

Why by a tractor to Till Land And plant seeds and wait for Rain -that will only come 1 week in 3months Si hyo pesa ya tractor unge Jenga Nayo Borehole???
.
.
Well maybe responsible governing is a factor too ...LAKINI counties have started Netting Their own Deals ...for example Wajir County Signed a deal with Qatar to Package and Sell
Camel milk
Goat meat and
Beef Upto

And they only have 1 slaughter house capable of slaughtering 17 cows in 24hrs

Ubaya ni security in Wajir for Non muslims is not Guaranteed so You just have to watch this perfect opportunity wasteby ....

I would prefer the government borrowed china loans like the SGR ones and instead Use it to fund emerging Start ups ....this would prove More profitable ...

I don't believe the white mans GDP figures!...are mostly made to look larger just like they lie on Mercator maps to make their countries look larger than others while reducing the size of Africa.
Conniving liars and all this due to WHITE SUPREMACY!

Africans are cursed....Donald trump was right....the Maasai, Samburu communities are still living like savages...they are in 16th century...what do u expect?

i think the agriculture productivity in europe has more to do with education/syllabus, industrialisation/mechanization and most importantly reasear .... in those countries you could pick a pinch of sand and take it to one of their labs and they will be able to tell you exactly in which part of the country you picked it from, they can tell you the soil acidity change of that place over the year, what seed will succeed and all kinds of staff........

so if we want to be as productive as them we need to start. y investing like atleast 2% of our GDP on research alone -thats 130billion ksh ($1.3B) ... a country like israel is able to flourish in the desert becaise 4% of thier $290Billion GDP..... thats a freaking $11.6 Billion going to reasearch alone every year.

the govt can do all the things to grow this economy and improve lives like better infrastructure, electricity, service delivery....but even after all that, this country will never take its place in the world untill the day we started paying more attention to research and innovation

Belgium spends $11.9B on research
Russia $42B
France $58.4B
Germany 106.5B
UK 43.7B
China $409B!! thats more than twice the combined GDP of EAC going to research and development each year.....

US of A spends 473.4Billion dollars!!!!; and now that is an inward looking president trump, you can expect that to increase exponentially

sasa jiulize kenya iko wapi...

Duh ndio sasa mada kama hizi, mind boggling. Thanks Kenyans, very educative and informative.
But we should be discussing on where are we really going wrong. Our leaders including governors is like they have been really sleeping all the time. Some are trying very hard, we should start threads discussing every county by itself, efforts by the local government and even national one.

Of-course corruption and mismanagement explains our current slow pace, but somewhere deep down those valleys, some of these leaders are working hard.
