Bail Granted

Following today’s bail application hearing, political and human rights activist Dr. Sarah Birete has been granted bail of shs.1million Uganda shillings.

She was arrested on 30th December 2025 and subsequently charged on 2nd January 2026 with unlawfully obtaining or disclosing personal data from the National Voters Register.

Dr. Birete currently serves as the Chairperson of the East and Horn of Africa Election Observation Network (E-HORN).
