I like this line of your thinking, I like the philosphy behind it (unfortunatrely I cannot again, find a "like" button today,...., something wrong?). Only that the egocentric nature of (us) humans mostly tend to tempt us to acquire happiness at the expense of others instead! What you advocate here is actually the real truth but almost practically impossible to most of us or rather too difficult to administer.

Thank you for this piece of wisdom. A man can not find happiness unless he is willing to give more to other people and expect less in return. It is universal principle, an ageless principle which can not lost its usefulness. If you want to find happiness you have to start it by being happy about yourself. It means that you are strong enough to appreciate who you are. If you realize there are changes you need to make into your life do not hesitate, go ahead work on that change, it will be alright.
