I think, and this is just my personal opinion, if we Africans want to industrialise asap, then we must either invest in coal power production or nuclear power production.
I know some will say coal is harmful, developed countries are moving away from coal etc. But that is not entirely true. They are saying they will stop using coal in 30-50 years. Aisee, hata sisi tutumie coal, we industrialise kama wao, halafu within 30-50 years, tutakuwa tumepata jia zingine za kuzalisha umeme.

Nuclear: France depends on nuclear power to generate electricity, I think over 70% of their electricity is generated through nuclear. Enough said.

We must not follow them blindly. Every country can chart its own path to prosperity and there is no one-size-fits-all strategy.
We have hydro and gas. Those alone can give us a good 20,000MW if properly exploited. And I haven't even mentioned geothermal.
We could be the pioneers of new technologies that are friendly to the environment!
