The event, attended by Members of Parliament, Ministers, and various dignitaries, served as a platform for the President to highlight Uganda’s economic transformation since 1986. He emphasized the country’s sustained economic growth under the NRM government.

“The economy of Uganda has transformed from Shs 13.6 trillion in 1986 to Shs 234.1 trillion currently,” President Museveni stated.

He further noted that 70% of Uganda’s youth are now engaged in the money economy, attributing this shift to government initiatives such as the Parish Development Model (PDM).

In addition, the President pointed out that the manufacturing sector now supplies approximately 65% of goods found in supermarkets. He also emphasized that both the service and agricultural sectors are steadily expanding, contributing to wealth creation and national development.
