A tragic incident has shocked residents in Adjumani District after a four-year-old girl was discovered dead inside a parked vehicle at a police station- Daily Monitor reports.
The child, identified as Michelle Kasikayire Mana, had been reported missing on March 18, 2026. Her body was found three days later on March 21 inside a locked black Mercedes Benz that had been kept as an exhibit at the traffic department yard of Adjumani Central Police Station, according to the North West Nile regional police spokes person,SP Collins Asea
According to police, Michelle had been staying with her grandmother, a police officer attached to the Child and Family Protection Unit. She reportedly disappeared from the police barracks in the afternoon, prompting a search that included a sniffer dog and review of CCTV footage, but no immediate leads were found.
Preliminary findings suggest the child may have entered the parked vehicle while playing and accidentally locked herself inside. Police believe she was unable to escape, leading to suffocation. No visible physical injuries were reported, though the body showed signs of decomposition when discovered.( Daily Monitor)
Authorities have since transferred the body to Adjumani General Hospital for further examination, as investigations continue to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
