Three people have died and 10 others sustained injuries following a fatal road crash involving a Toyota Hiace, registration number UA 836AM, along the Ishaka–Kagamba Road in Bushenyi District.
According SSP Michael Kananura, The crash occurred at around 4:40pm on Monday, September 7, 2026, at Omukatagu.
Preliminary police findings indicate that the vehicle was carrying mourners from Kashaka in Mbarara District to Rwererere in Rukungiri via the Ishaka–Kagamba Road when the driver reportedly failed to negotiate a corner due to excessive speed.
The injured victims were rushed to KIU Teaching Hospital and Kitagata Hospital for medical attention.
Police have urged motorists to observe speed limits, particularly when approaching corners and other high-risk sections of the road, warning that excessive speed reduces a driver's ability to react and safely negotiate bends.
