The Reds think that the midfielder can help them bounce back next season...
    May 3, 2010 11:52:00 PM

Liverpool are looking to sign Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole this summer with the hope that the England international will help the Reds bounce back from a disappointing Premier League season.

Blues owner Roman Abramovich is frustrated with Cole's high salary demands and the Englishman could leave on a free transfer in the summer transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.

Rafael Benitez is looking to bring some more English players to Anfield, already signing Raheem Sterling from Queens Park Rangers and Jonjo Shelvey from Charlton, and Cole could arrive in the summer.

The 28-year-old has not been able to earn a consistent first-team spot from Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti, but still seeks about £6.2million a year in salary.

Manchester United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson Promised Money To Spend By David Gill
Red Devils will be able to reinforce this summer......
    By Zack Wilson
    May 4, 2010 9:16:00 AM

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been assured by club chief executive David Gill that there will be funds to spend in the transfer market this summer.

Rumours have persisted that United have no cash to use for reinforcements because of the burden of debt with which the club are saddled following the takeover by the Glazer family.

However, Gill insists that the reality of the situation is different - and Ferguson has already signed two players for next season in the shape of Chris Smalling and Javier Hernandez.

"I can look you in the eye and tell you straight that we have the transfer funds available to the manager," Gill told the Manchester United Disabled Supporters Association magazine.

"Targets have been discussed already, but it's not our style to talk about names and it never will be."
