Kuna kigari niliagiza toka Japan kufika tu bandarini kama wiki mbili hivi ziliizopita wakanyofoa switch zote za kupandishia vioo vya madirisha:(
 
THE Dar es Salaam port may lose many customers from landlocked countries if it will not immediately address the problem of congestion.

This was learnt here yesterday when the Prime Minister, Mr Mizengo Pinda visited Namibia Port Authority at Walvis Bay port and was informed that the port was planning to serve all SADC countries by 2015.

The port's Sales Manager, Mr Elias Mwenyo, told the premier that the port had received international status and was currently serving countries in South America, Northern America, West Africa, Europe and Asia.

He said initially the port was merely a conduit of goods but currently was serving landlocked countries of Zambia, Malawi, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Botswana and Zimbabwe. "Good road, railway and air travel to SADC countries have enabled us to serve these countries -- we're crossing the Kalahari desert instead of going to Durban or Cape Town, South Africa and therefore we save seven to 11 days of transporting cargo," noted Mr Mwenyo.

When asked by Mr Pinda how many days ships were using in water before anchoring in the port, Mr Mwenyo said there were no such days because the ships are giving 72 day notice to the port before arrival.

He said the port, which had never lost any cargo, had the capacity of handling 4 million tones of cargo per year and 350 cargo ships per month. It has also workshops for rehabilitating ships once they break down or develop technical problems.

Earlier this week, President Jakaya Kikwete instructed the minister for Infrastructure Development, Dr Shukuru Kawambwa to reduce clearance days at the port from the current 23 to 10 days.

The Tanzania Port Authority (TPA) also presented a report to Mr Pinda on September 24, this year, indicating that Dar es Salaam, Tanga and Mtwara ports have the capacity of handling 11 million tones per year, but handled only 6.2 million tones (58 per cent) in 2007/08.

Mr Pinda is today expected to meet Namibia President Mr Hifikepunye Pohamba, visit Goreangab water project at Katutura, Windhoek before returning home in the afternoon.

depressing indeed. nchi kama Rwanda inayoongozwa na 'dikteta mzalendo' anayependa maendeleo ya nchi yake kwa uweza wake wote ingekuwa ufukweni kama siye, mataifa mengi nje ya Afrika nd'o yangejua kuwa Waafrika wanaweza kuwa na maendeleo bila kutembeza vikopo vya chenji kwenye mikutano ya UN. :(
 
Lkn, nao hao wanataka kuanza/kuendeleza aina yao ya ufisadi. Km ule udanganyifu khs ile meli iliyosheheni silaha ambayo ilitekwa na maharamia. Inaelekea shehena nyingi km hizo zinapitia ktk bandari ya Msa.
 
Jameni, matatizo yetu ni makubwa, na hata wakati mwingine ni vigumu kuelewa ni kwa nini hatuwezi kufanikiwa kutatua hata tatizo mojawapo tu kwa ufanisi kabisa, na tukaanza kulitumia kama mfano mzuri wa kuigwa.

Hili tatizo la bandari zetu, hasa hasa hii ya Dar, hivi sababu hasa ni nini? Mipango mibaya, kushindwa kiutendaji au yote kwa pamoja?

Ni dhahiri, sote, pamoja na viongozi wetu wanaelewa wazi umuhimu wa bandari hii, sio kwa Tanzania tu, bali kwa nchi zote zilizo tayari kuitumia. Ni kitu gani kinachotushinda kuifanikisha ifanye kazi nzuri kama ile ya Mombasa?

Basi, napendekeza kwa 'spirit' ya EAC tuwaombe washiriki wenzetu hawa wa Mombasa waje watuendeshee bandari yetu hii ya Dar kwa ufanisi; kwani inaonekana wao wana uzoefu mzuri na kazi hii!

Kama hatutaki hao wa Mombasa, nina hakika kabisa Rwanda na Uganda wakipewa kazi hiyo wataifanya vizuri zaidi hata kuliko Mombasa. Kama hatutaki kuwapa Dar, basi tuwape waendelezee Tanga, (of course kwa maelewano ya malipo).

Inauma roho sana kuona kila jambo tunalolifanya sisi tunashindwa, sijui tunayo matatizo gani!

Ofcourse ukitaka wakenya waje wakuendeshee bandari ya Dar tena watahakikisha wanaiua kabisa ili Mombasa iwe na soko la uhakika. Tatizo ni sisi wenyewe hatujui

1. Nini tunataka kama nchi na kuset goals....goals zetu kama nchi tunasetiwa na UN, IMF, Worldbank etc​

2. Hatuna vision ya kuwa tunataka kwenda wapi na tutafikaje....na kipi kianze na kipi kifuate, tumekuwa watu wa kufuata mikumbo tu​

3. Hatupo tayari kujitoa (sacrifice) kama watu binafsi na nchi vile vile, mfano mara nyingi tumezungumzia kuhusu suala la mashangingi serikalini na gharama serikali inazoingia kuyaendesha. Rwanda na nadhani na Burundi waliamua kuyauza almost yote ili ku-save pesa ya matumizi ya serikali.​

wiki ya tano haujatoa?limeshushwa kweli toka kwenye meli? storage si utaumia sana, wakati mwingine ni vizuri ukawa karibu na agent wako,uzoefu wangu huwa wanaeleza hali ambayo si halisi. pamoja na hayo tatizo kubwa ni wale wageni waliogaiwa kitengo cha makontena, ufanyaji wake kazi wala siuelewi,vifaa duni, meli inaweza kumaliza mwezi haijapata nafasi ya kushusha.
 
Bandari ya Dar inakera kwelikweli.kuna viwanda ambavyo vinapitisha makontena,wakati mwingine utasikia mzigo uko bandarini kwa mwezi mzima. Utakuta uzalishaji ktk viwanda husika husimama,wakisubiri material.hali hiyo siyo ya kuambiwa nimeona watu wamekaa kiwanda fulani wakisubiri material.ndg zangu hii ni aibu kubwa,wahusika acheni uswahili mnachelewesha maendeleo ya nchi yetu.

Hujui kuwa maofisa wa ushuru wa forodha wana majumba makubwa sana yaliyojengewa na swimming pools zenye heaters ndani kwa ndani yanayokula umeme sana? Vile vile wana magari makubwa makubwa ya kifahari yanayotumia mafuta sana. kama hiyo haitoshi, wengi wao wana nyumba ndogo nyingi wanazohitaji ku-maintain. Na mwisho zaidfi ni kuwa wanajulikana kama mzee huko mitaani, jambo ambalo inabidi wali-maintain pia.

Gharama za ku-maintain mambo yote hayo ni kubwa sana. Kwa vile utamaduni wetu ni kula kwenye deski lako, afisa huyu inabidi umchangie ili deski lake limwezeshe ku-maintin maisha ya hali ya juu aliyo nayo.

Kuna jamaa yangu aliamua kurudi nyumbani baada ya masomo yake ya miaka minne. Hivyo aliamua kufungansha vitu vichache tu alivyoviona nivyamuhimu kwake. Mizigo yake iliingia bandarini tarehe 1/11/2008 lakini hadi leo hii hajaweza kuichukua. Queries kila kukicha.
Aliambiwa apeleke kopi ya pasipoti kama taratibu zinavyosema, akafanya hivyo.Baadaye akaambiwa apeleke pasipoti akapeleka na wakakaa nayo kwa muda wa siku nzima. Baada ya siku 3 jamaa yangu akasafiri nje ya nchi. Huku nyuma pale TRA mtu aliyekuwa anashughulikia documents zake akabadilishwa na kuwekwa mtu mwingine. Mambo yakakwama kwa kuwa huyu mpya naye anataka kuiona pasipoti, ambayo bwana kaitumia kusafiria.

Yaani pale TRA wahindi wanapiga simu tu na kutuma watu, lakini kazi zote za mizunguko ya documents za wahindi hao zinafanywa na watu wao permanent ambao ni wafanyakazi kwa TRA. Mchezo mchafu unafanywa kuanzia kwenye inspection na valuation, serikali wanapewa robo wao wanachukua robo tatu. Mwisho wa kazi jamaa wa TRA anapitia mshiko wake. Mambo haya yako kuazia juu TRA.Sisi walalahoi wenye vimizigo vidogo ambavyo anajua huwezi kumuonga ,ndiyo sehemu wanayojifanya kuwa wanafanya kazi na wako makini.

Unajua zamani ulikuwa wapewa 14 days kuondoa kontena pale lakini sasa hivi wameweka 7 days wakati ukweli ni kuwa TRA pamoja na TICS ndio waneosababisha kujazana kwa makontena pale

sasa the question is je wanaweza kumpiga mkwara ROSTAM maana JAKAYA ndio keshatoa agizo lakini wapi!!!
 
Ni mtanzania mwenye uchungu na nchi yangu lakini mizigo yangu huwa ni Mombasa sitaki taabu.
 
Hivi karibuni nikiwa kwenye mizunguko yangu ya starehe usiku ..hasa nikipendelea sehemu tulivu zisizokuwa na vijana waliotoroka nyumbani,nilifika kwenye club moja pembezoni mwa bahari,nilivuta meza nikaa pembeni kabisa niweze kusikia kelele za maji yanayorudi ...muda ulivoenda kwenye meza walijiunga mwanadiplomasia mmoja wa ulaya na mwekezaji na mtu watu wengine wawili.

Wakati maongezi yanaendea mmoja kati ya walioongozana na hawa wageni..amabaye ni mara ya kwanza dar aliangalia upande wakigamboni aliuliza ni kitongoji gani..hasa akifurahia mfano wa maghorofa....,nikamueleza kuwa yale sio majengo...bali ni foleni ya meli [yapata au kuzidi 20]....zilizo kwenye foleni ya kuingia bandarini kupakuwa mizigo.Kila mmoja pale hiyo hali ilimsikitisha...

Yule mwekezaji..ambaye alionekana kuwa na uzoefu mkubwa wa bandari yetu...alianza kunieleza kwa hasira ..hasira waliyo nayo kuhusu bandari yetu...wanaita bandari ya kitu kidogo...chai chai!..alitueleza pale kuwa tatizo kubwa la msongamano kwenye bandari yetu linatokana na WATU WA TRA NA CUSTOMS KUENDEKEZA RUSHWA.....hiki ndicho chanzo cha makontena kutoka taratibu...alisema haya kwa kuwa yeye mizigo yao mingi inapitia pale na bandari imekuwa chanzo kikubwa cha mradi wao kuchechemea....,
Kimsingi badari yetu ni ndogo lakini ikiwa watu wa kodi wangefanya kazi yao ipasavyo bila kuweka ukiritimba na rushwa mizigo ingetoka mapeema.

Tatizo lingine ambalo nadhani rais alilifanyia kazi wakati wa ziara ni..kuongeza storage chaarge ya mizigo ili kuondoa tatizo la baadhi ya wafanyabiashara kutumia bandari kama godowns ...kwa kuwa storage rate iko chini...

Yule mwanadiplomasia alitueleza kuwa tatizo kama la bandari yetu lilikuwapo maputo....na kuna wakati ilibidi customs service iwe outsourced kwa ROYAL CROWN ARGENCIES..hawa waliendesha kitengo cha kodi na forodha kwa mwaka mzima ikiwa ni pamoja na kufundisha vijana walioajiriwa kuziba nafasi ya watumishi waliokuwapo..ambao wote walifukuzwa au kuhamishwa....matokeo yalikuwa mazuri kwa mizigo kutolewa haraka sana tena bila hata senti ya ziada.....baada ya mwaka wale vijana waliokuja walikuwa nao wameiva....

sasa tufanye nini kwa bandari yetu???

1.vitengo vya TRA na CUSTOMS pale vifanyiwe restrurering upya...tukiangalia uwezekano wa ku outsource...kwa royal crown au wengine watakaoonekana kufaa.

2.bei ya kuhifadhi mizigo iwe juu ya bei ya kawaida ya soko..to descourage unfaithfully businessmen who use port as the storage area.

3.implement 24 hours plan..intersectorial[banks,customs,TICTS,FREIGHT and all stake holders working in the port.

4.improvement of TRL should be considered a national issue to ease easy and cheap tranport means off port....

5.all the area from dar port to pugu ..where TRL enyoy a big land along side should be turned to container storage....instead of ubungo where its creating a traffic nightmere...all containers must be removed by train and not lorries ..its cheaper that way...

6.Divert funds meant for building a new port in BAGAMOYO to devoloping and improve tanga port to support nothern circuit..as well as extending the rail network from arusha to musoma for uganda market..and improving MTWARA PORT and put a road network through ruvuma to mbamababay..and get connection by rail to TAZARA...will benefit south and highlands region along with malawi ,zambia,congo....wider options for customers..to use tanga ,dar es salaam...or mtwara....

infact implementation of a new port in bagamoyo..just 30 mles apart while we know the cause of the high traffic at dar port is a loss...if those funds are available lets channel them to tanga and mtwara..and revamp infrastructure,,..and infact the mtwara port is a natural one....even our donors community are surprised by that motive...

Nadhani hapa mimi nimetoa kichocheo tu cha mjadala juu ya nini kifanyike..maana mara nyingine sisi raia wa kawaida tunapata aibu ..tunapoongea na wageni sembuse nyie viongozi wetu...mwisho wa siku aibu inakuwa ya watanzania!
 
Good points: some of the observations are already taking place e.g the Mtwara Corridor is in the making for a road from Mtwara to Mbamba Bay. It is said they are now supposedly putting in motion the concept of working over night and weekends by adding the so called "graveyard shift" - whether wameanza au longolongo tuu, sijui.

Do you know that the long room for Mombasa port is in Nairobi? Na wao wako fasta ile mbaya!
