Naibu Waziri Mkuu na waziri wa Nishati Dkt Dotto Biteko ameshuhudia uwashwaji wa mtambo namba tisa katika bwawa la kuzalisha umeme la Julis Nyerere JNHPP ambao umeanza kusambaza umeme megawat 235 katika gridi ya Taifa.
Akishuhudia uwashwaji wa Mtambo huo wa kuzalisha umeme Dkt biteko amesema uzalishaji huo wa megawat 235 utapunguza mgao wa Umeme kwa asilimia 85 na hivyo wananchi wataondokana na kero ya umeme.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr. Dotto Biteko, has witnessed the commissioning of unit number nine of Julius Nyerere Hydropower Plant (JNHPP) that has started supplying 235 megawatts of electricity to the national grid.
While witnessing the commissioning of the power plant, Dr. Biteko stated that the production of 235 megawatts would reduce power rationing by 85%, relieving citizens off the burden of electricity shortages.
"However, the official inauguration of the two units, unit number eight and unit number nine, will be done by President Samia Suluhu Hassan next March, where both units will have a combined capacity to generate 470 megawatts of electricity," said Dr. Biteko.
Despite the commencement of power supply from the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Plant (JNHPP) across the country, the public opinion indicates that power shortages persist. While the JNHPP is a significant step towards addressing the energy deficit, the public has expressed concerns about overreliance on hydropower. The prevailing sentiment among the public suggests that the government should explore alternative and diversified sources of energy to ensure a more reliable and sustainable power supply. This calls for a broader energy strategy reflects the desire for a resilient power infrastructure that can mitigate the impact of fluctuations in water levels and environmental conditions on electricity generation.
