Police in Nateete are holding a suspect in connection with a case of child torture involving a 10-year-old boy in Wakiso District.
According to the Uganda Police Force, the incident occurred in Kanaala Zone, Mutundwe Parish, Bunamwaya Division in Wakiso District. The victim, a 10 year old Primary Four pupil, reportedly was left in the care of the suspect by her brother.
The suspect has been identified as Nankunda Esther, a 34-year-old resident of the area.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident happened on March 20, at around 5:00 PM. It is alleged that the suspect accused the child of stealing UGX 100,000 and allegedly punished him by burning his hands using a heated white polythene bag.
Police say the child has since been rescued and taken for medical examination following the incident.
The suspect is currently in police custody at Nateete as investigations continue and is expected to be produced in court to face charges related to child abuse and torture.
