President Uhuru Kenyatta is next month expected to host Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and over 20 Heads of State. The leaders will be in the country for the Sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (Ticad). The conference, coming hot on the heels of the just concluded United Nations Conference and Trade and Development (Unctad), will explore ways of strengthening ties between Africa and Japan, a traditional industrial and economic power in the world.

In a statement to newsrooms, State House spokesman Manoah Esipisu said the conference will focus on the promotion of structural economic transformation, promotion of resilient health systems and promotion of social stability. "This will be the first time the conference is being held in Africa. We look forward to welcoming delegates from all over the continent to this important event. Japan has always been our trusted ally," he said. He added: "It is clear to us that industrialisation and innovation are key drivers of prosperity, right across the world. It is equally clear that these are the two areas in which Japan has experience and expertise to share.

African countries, Kenya among them, long ago identified the shortfall in industrial skills as a central hindrance to the prosperity we hope to see for our confidence. We hope, therefore, to learn from Japan's experience in these fields." The conference to take place between August 27 and 28 will also provide Japan an opportunity to expand its technological muscle in the continent.

"We must strengthen our health systems so that we are better able to prevent threats to public health, and we must strengthen our systems so that we can respond quickly and effectively to these threats... there will be extensive discussion of this theme during the conference," State House announced.
The country is also set to host the Africa Agriculture Forum to discuss Africa's growth prospects through farming as a business activity. The forum to be held between September 5 and 9 will bring together over 2,000 political, business and agriculture leaders. Meanwhile, there will be a State House Energy Summit tomorrow.

The meeting will involve members of the public, heads of energy parastatals as well as the Cabinet Secretary and his Principal Secretaries to shed light on the latest happenings in the country's energy sector.

Any country can host UNCTAD summit/conference! Nothing to brag about..
Yes any unctad member country can host UNCTAD, but how many actually have, and How many have actually done it twice!!!!!!

Speaking first at the opening ceremony, Dr Mukhisa Kituyi, Secretary-General of UNCTAD, said that 40 years ago, the UNCTAD membership for the first time elected to host the conference on African soil and the choice of Kenya was very significant at that time, and today 40 years later, this country is accorded the privilege again, not only to become the first African developing country to host the UNCTAD conference twice but also to be holding it at a certain critical historical moment.
UNCTAD-14: Ministerial Conference gets underway in Nairobi

-----------
Only kenya and Swiss have done it. And since UNCTAD headquaters is in Geneva, swiss, it doesnt really count, so kenya is the only country outside UNCTAD HQ that has hosted the conference twice even though member countries are like 190+

UNCTAD XIV Nairobi Kenya
17-22 July 2016[6]
UNCTAD XIII Doha Qatar
21–26 April 2012[7]
UNCTAD XII Accra Ghana

UNCTAD XI São Paulo Brazil
13–18 June 2004[9]
UNCTAD X Bangkok Thailand
12–19 February 2000[10]
UNCTAD IX Midrand South Africa

UNCTAD VIII Cartagena Colombia

UNCTAD VII Geneva Switzerland 08 Jul-03 Aug 1987
UNCTAD VI Belgrade Serbia 06-30 Jun 1983
UNCTAD V Manila Philippines 7 May-03 Jun 1979
UNCTAD IV Nairobi Kenya 05-31 May 1976

UNCTAD II New Delhi India 31 Jan-29 Mar 1968

--------- And then add that to the GES which was for the first time held in S.S.africa in nairobi when obama came.
JTICAD will for the first time be held outside japan and kenya will be hosting it.

add that to the fact that kenya is the only 3rd wold country that is HQ to a UN HQ capable of calling a heads of state summit for all UN members.....

But hey, still nothing worth brag about right????

ohh alnost forgot the WTO which was also for the fiest time held on african soil and as you can guess on whose soil it was in this continent

Nairobi — For the the first time, major talks of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) will be held in Africa when Kenya hosts the 10th Ministerial Conference.
"We will be holding our 10th Ministerial Conference in Nairobi from 15 to 18 December - the first time the WTO has ever held a Ministerial Conference in Africa," Roberto Azevêdo the current WTO Director-General said last week in Geneva.
The Ministerial Conference is the top most decision-making body of the WTO. It usually meets every two years to chart global trade policy through consensus.
Kenya successfully asked to host the conference after Turkey pulled out in favour of a Nairobi venue last year.

------
But still nothing to brag about in your eyes, because its kenya doing it, if it was Tz doing all these conferences you would be here everyday rubbing it in our faces and saying things like , 'ohh, the wolrd is comming to us , they all want to be here, ohh they did not pick you because you dont have quality facilities capableof hosting, ohh you kenyans dont have security......'

when alshabaab were attacking us on a monthly basis, you were here bragging about tourist numbers and shit and we told you we always make a comeback, now look, we made a bigger comeback, one of the speakers in UNTAD said he came a week earlier and he toured around kenya and whent toghe coast and to masai mara...... the multiplier effect of these conferences on bussinesses is amazing.

just wait, one day kenya will manage to convince UN in newyork to host a UN General assembly in kenya, and kenyas geopolitical musle will change forever, and you will still be here with NOTHING TO BRAG ABOUT!
