    We are a Translation company in New York and are looking for native speakers of Swahili from Tanzania residing in the United States for transcription and translation of documentary footage, corporate videos and interviews from Swahili into English. Candidates are required to write excellent English, have resided in Tanzania at least until they were 15-16 years old and later on immigrated to the United States.
    This is an independent contractor work at home position that if qualified you can do also during the evenings and or weekends depending on your availability. Applicants need to have high-speed internet at home so that they can download and play digital file formats such as WMV, MPEG-4, QuickTime, MP3, WMA.     JOB DESCRIPTION: Transcription/Translation of audio/video interviews in Swahili. Future assignments may include audio/video of documentary footage, interviews and corporate videos.

    TIMELINE: We will have 15 minutes of video featuring Swahili interviews during the month of December available to be transcribed and translated. WMV files will be available for download from our FTP.


    - access at home to pc, email and high speed internet (cable/DSL/T1)

    - good typing skills and proficient with MS Word lay-out/formatting tools

    - internet research skills

    - previous experience in transcription/translation is preferred

    - must reside in United States

    - native speaker of Swahili from Tanzania

    - Near-native spoken and written English

    - Transcription software is a plus (not required)

(c) Also please mention where you grew up in Tanzania , how you learned Swahili and mention any other languages/dialects of Tanzania you may speak. Also please let us know (d) how you learned English (e) your word processing wpm (typing speed) and (f) what kind of high speed internet access you have.
