Nairobi - Authorities in Kenya arrested two people for attempting to export 113 live reptiles to Japan, a spokesperson for the Kenyan Wildife Services (KWS) said on Thursday.
Police nabbed a Kenyan man with a shipment of terrapins, geckos, turtles, spiders, frogs and snakes at the country's second largest airport in the coastal city of Mombasa Wednesday, KWS spokesperson Paul Udoto said.
A German national who runs an animal farm south of Mombasa - from which the animals allegedly originated - was also arrested, he said.
"An agent sent to drop the consignment was arrested before he could load the caged snakes onto the Japan-bound plane," Udoto said.
