Dear job seekers did you know that sometimes you are still struggling for job search because of the lack of the knowledge of the people who call people for interviews?
Sometimes I have a strong feeling that these people already have their own people and they just call people for interview just to fulfilling the procedure. Imagine this situation
A company calls you at around 18hrs or sometimes 19hrs asking you to attend an interview that will be conducted the next day? Does it real make sense even if I am in that region where the interview will be conducted to be asked for an interview within a short notice? You may be in the same region but there things you need to handover, you may be there but none of your clothes is clean for the interview.
The worse part is that in your CV you have indicated in which region you are currently (assume you are in other region), did they not read your CV? Is it possible to start a journey during the night and we all know that buses start their journey in the morning? Are these people who call people for interview considerate or they have their relatives they notified them early and "the son of peasant" will be given the information late?
One day I met I person attending an interview in Songea,he was supposed to be around for the interview at 10am and at around 07h10 he was in Iringa(from Iringa to Songea it is impossible to use 3hrs by bus/car).Why this happened? Late information for attending interview and this behaviour is increasing.
If you are blessed you should know something is not right with the organisation, serious organisations plan their work and they give you time to prepare and they do not surprise you.
Do you need a degree to be a considerate person? Still we say we are professionals however our actions contradict who we say we are.
It is time organisations and those who are involved in preparing interviews you change, give people enough time to prepare and stop surprising people. Do not use the fact that there are a large number of job seekers to your own benefit.
Do not be surprised if they say the interview was fair while deep in the root of their heart they know that knowingly/unknowingly they stopped others from attending the interview.
Another techniques these people I believe they use to minimise the number of people who will attend the interview is calling people to attend interview using e-mails. Please do not get me wrong on this; I am not saying that e-mail is not a means of communication.
Not all the time people have access to internet, sometimes you may be out of network coverage. I just want to let you know that the means of communication differ in their effectiveness-mail is a means of communication but it is not an effective means of communication for something that need an immediate action. You can minimise this by reading your e-mails everyday if you have access to internet. If you ask me I will recommend phone calls if possible followed by an e-mail and the e-mail can be used to add other details like the location of the office and others information to help the person who is supposed to attend the interview.
NB: You need to read between lines job seekers' CV, are they employed or not? Where are they currently? How long it will take for them to travel to reach your office.
Please remember you are giving information about your company in a way that you have never thought. Is it considerate? Is it organised or full of surprises? Is it working like a spy unit where info is not shared to all?
Can the government do something on this? It depends who is the government and how far they can see beyond their normal sight.
To all the job seekers "Never give up, no matter how the situation is there is always hope".
While other can see what I have explained as a problem to other it is an opportunity, there is a need for training on how to prepare and conduct interviews. It is all about "Perception", it is not a law that you should see what I see, and sometime you can not see what is not for you.
Did I say Good morning?
