In Westlands, Nairobi County, a collapsed structure has trapped two workmen.
Four workers were initially trapped when the structure fell on Wednesday night, according to the Kenya Red Cross.
Two people were saved, while two others were stranded within the under-construction structure. The two made it out unscathed.The Kenya Red Cross stated that "rescue operations are ongoing, with the status of those trapped yet to be confirmed."
The tragedy comes after a similar incident in Kericho, where a three-story structure collapsed in Chesanga hamlet Kipchebor Ward, Kericho County, killing one person and rescuing three others.
The Kericho incident was confirmed by Kericho County Commissioner Jeremiah Mwai Gicheru, who said all relevant agencies from both levels of government were present and took part in the rescue operation.
Kericho County CECM for Public Service Jonathan Korir led the rescue operations, coordinating efforts among emergency responders and volunteers at the scene.
Similarly, on March 16, a building in Blue Estate in Shauri Moyo, Nairobi, fell during an attempted demolition along the riparian corridor of the Nairobi River, killing four more people.
The building was one of those designated for demolition under the ongoing Nairobi River Regeneration Project, which is being carried out by the Nairobi Rivers Commission, according to the Ministry of Interior.
According to reports, some people might have been trapped in the fallen building, according to the ministry. One of the four people who were rescued was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
