Drogba has rescued his team again and extra-time is on the way ...

Early in extra-time, Drogba foolishly clips the heels of Frank Ribery and concedes a penalty ... but Robben's driven effort is saved by Cech

Wow. Is Robben going to rue that? Ultimately exra-time proves fruitless and it's finished 1-1 at the end of 120 minutes of football, so penalties will be needed to settle this contest

The shoot-out starts badly for Chelsea as Lahm scores the first effort for Bayern and then Mata's first penalty for Chelsea is easily saved

But when Cech claws away Bayern's fourth penalty from Ivica Olic and the fifth from Schweinsteiger (pictured), Chelsea have a chance to win the European Cup - for that to happen Drogba must score the final spot-kick ...

Chelsea's players head up the steps to receive the trophy and are greeted on the way by the club's owner Roman Abramovich

At last the Blues get their hands on the trophy - yet for all the talk of John Terry lifting the trophy he doesn't seem to be anywhere in sight

After heading back down from the stands to the pitch, the partying begins

Who'd have thought the Germans would lose a penalty shoot-out? Looking back though, Bayern were clearly nervous about the prospect; they even let their goalkeeper take their third spot-kick. How bizarre
