I knew since the beginning that BVR is going to have some problems. It could be a deliberate attempt by NEC to try to steal some votes or simply technical problems that experts in NEC cannot solve.
We have to understand that our NEC's BVR is not perfect or even close to perfect. We have to make sure that we're around the polling stations to protect our votes. By being around, our agents will feel safe and can immediately report to us about any evil attempts to rig the votes. By going home we are giving rooms for such acts.
I still believe though that if many of us turn out to vote on Sunday in large numbers, Lowassa will win and become the fifth President because the odds are in our favour.
I couldn't concur with you more...
There is a controversial number of 22 million voters who are eligible to cast their ballots on Sunday....opposition have threatened to boycott the vote, pointing out some queries not fully addressed by NEC..such as:
* Why some people eligible to vote haven't seen their names in the polling stations.....
* Why would the registration numbers of some voters' IDs differ from that in the NEC's database?....
* We don't know how many people are in the additional second list of people whose names are neither in the original dabase nor in the first additional list. ..
* There is this thick cloud sorrounding the software intended to be used for tallying votes by NEC....
* Flaws in the NEC's database of voters including photos of people appearing more than once, names of men in pictures of women....
* NEC's thwarting of oath taking exercise of some opposition's extra or sub-agents who are supposed to handle agency duties in case of emergencies.....
Nevertheless this election is already marred by intimidation and fraud..and may be far from free and fair...CCM has a strategy of systematically cracking down the opposition and now they're intending to disrupt the vote....
CCM has been running the show as a one party state disguised as a multiparty democracy all along...the opposition especially CDM have gone through hell with these guys in power....there was a millitary showdown in Mtwara....With all this, the administration under ccm boasts itself to have political competition exist in the country, but then make it extremely impossible for them to exist at all.
They just made a show of police force in Arusha few days before the showdown, probably to intimidate voters and the opposition.
Fighting ccm is an uphill battle, but there's some light at the end of the tunnel, let's just hold hope with a day to go that, this time around political changes can come through the ballot box
Have you gone through the newly proposed constitution of Warioba that CCM ditched? My friend American form of government is totally different to that of Tanzania. In Tanzania, president is all major means of power. While in America, there is a governmental system of "checks and balances", to act as a check against the other branch is to have the power to limit the power of the other branches in order to maintain equilibrium (balance) between the branches of government. In theory one branch cannot overpower or usurp the power of another branch or branches.
So, again in theory and as an example, the executive branch (the president) cannot assume dictatorial powers and both enforce and create laws, the responsibility for the creation of which belongs only to the legislative branch (a check). This system has also been passed through their political parties. If the executive branch (the president of congress chairman) fails to perform its duty, it destroys the whole system.
You are asking me that? The wrongs of a minister are not transfered to the PM automatically....you understand that both the minister and PM in question belong to your party....Not a bad idea, but I think essentially that is what the ministry does not, and they do not seem to be doing such a great job. Every ministry belong to the head of the cabinet, did prime minister took any action.??
You didn't answer the question.....after all we are not dealing with speculations, we are dealing with facts......I am entitled to my opinion. Calling people who do not agree with either you or UKAWA does not make one wrong. I stand by what I have typed and it is true. Since the Ugandan war, our government budget has been increased exponentially till today. By this fact, we can predict years to come through speculations and analysis. This is not ancient news we cannot look up.
You realize that you don't have a veto vote in this election...you are not 22 million voters....You just refuse to look at the actual information and accept the fact that Lowassa is a pathological liar and a political hawk. He is untrustworthy and there is no way in the hell that is going to win. I am all for Magufuli but Lowassa will never get my support, ever.!!
What lies?...are those people in social media not part of the public? The paid UKAWA trolls, may pose as patriots - they vote in polls, vote things down, scream lies about Magufuli. That is another stupid UKAWA tactic. They can troll social media all they want, it doesn't change the fact that the public can see that candidate is insane and incompetent.
Magufuli is qualified, smart, experienced and the only one who actually acts like a president among those presidential candidates.
You didn't answer the question correctly.....CCM under Magufuli.
You missed my point, I didn't ask about Magufuli or Kikwete's 'connection with voters'. Just go back and check. The observation that Magufuli would not much connect to voters the way Kikwete has, is not a bias. It is a reasonable (and as it turns out, accurate) observation. Kikwete was out of touch since 2010. Joking with unemployed workers that he was out of work too was astonishingly tone deaf. His comment to teachers and other public workers caused irreparable damage, particularly when it was revealed that his own ministers at one time were on scandals. These has been decreased the popularity of CCM but Magufuli is going to put it on peak again.
I'm not asking about ideologies, Why has Magufulu failed in his Ministry to fight corruption and graft according to CAG and PPRA reports? and your head tell you that he can be successful in the same fight as President!!!!!You probably have the wrong image of how it is because I cannot explain it by citing some ideologies that you agree with, but you cannot be against your lord. That is why it became difficult for some stuffs to to perform their duties on Kikwete's government.
I don't think you been following the budget meetings in the previous parliament. If you do, you can't say that unless they were speaking spanish to you!!!!Our budget is considerably better than it was in last year by every measure since 1979, there is now a healthy wariness about the secret machinations of the financial industry and government expenditures. Tanzanian budget has been increased exponentially each year. And repeat to read my comment carefully because ain't hit the exactly figure but it is an approximation (at least Tshs 75 trillion for five years).
Stop protecting CCM, a party that has lost credibility.Stop protecting Lowassa, a candidate that has already lost all credibility.
I think you should tell that to your fellow CCM friends!!!Committment is not enough when we have weak executive branch. And the mafisadi are calling their remained dogs to heel but little do they know that Magufuli is uncontrollable. The only way to make him reconsider is to explicity let him know that they will not back him on any confrontation. They should let him to take on CCM alone.
We cannot put our future at risk by electing the party that has failed by all measures!!!!teh teh teh explain why you think it's funny but that's it. A bit of context, but not your boring overdone comment. The UKAWA is very known for its bribery and corrupt regime. They tend to lie to the Tanzania citizens in order to keep them ignorant. Why he didn't speak about RICHMOND scandal one day ago and he claimed to be clean.?? We cannot put our government on risk.
Do you think he wins because I want it? No, it's because people are tired of CCM!!!teh teh teh do you think CDM is going to win.?? It is over my ----, literally.
Hi,
I guess it is fair to say that we the followers of this thread benefited a great deal from the discussion - thank you all.
In this thread (and I commend JD for introducing it) a heated debate raged on with people like Kubwajinga, Maziku Masunga Jr. and myself on one side and the very capable Jack Daniel's, yero and kui on the other. I learned a lot from those discussions, again thank you very much. Throughout the debate I wasn't really sure of the elections outcome BUT I stuck to my evolving decisions based purely on objective principles and not emotions.
Maybe I can now say that sometimes it is wise to heeds the words of old folks like me (I don't mean to gloat). Many a times we know what we are talking about - NOT always - LOL.
So, two weeks ago I came home and I finally voted on Sunday. I left soon after voting. I look forward to the official announcement of results come Thursday.
In the meantime I pray that peace reigns today and always. We can do evaluations of what went wrong or right and where, later. Right now we really need to pool together in a hypothetical group hug and start the healing process. We need each other more than we sometimes think.
I love you guys.
Cheers.

I like your good explanation about that.My friend American form of government is totally different to that of Tanzania. In Tanzania, president is all major means of power. Thanks mkuu Kifyatu
Same here, learned a lot from you and everyone who has immensely participated in this thread. That was fun guys!, And as the country is in the pose mood, patiently waiting for wakubwa to decide (un freaking believable!) let's hope for the best of our country.

I am thrilled by the stunning contributions from all people who have partaken in this topic. I think we had a productive discussion with exception of a few palavers.
Kifyatu with all the peekaboos, yero's distaste of the hide and seek.... kui the linchpin..
Next, from the fecund minds of some of the greatest guys in JF to the callous minds of folks like KUBWA JINGA and Maziku Masunga Jr. .....I cannot help but believe that we have generally moved a step closer to being effective people...
To touch on the election itself, the fact that NEC and CCM has disrupted the vote is now well known. This election has continually proved that we are millions of steps behind as a nation with regards to political development.
Honestly, most of the time I don't feel happy being a Tanzanian because there is just nothing to show to the world....and these are some of those reasons I dont always boast of being a tanzanian when I travel abroad....that vital patriotism has been gone for years....and CCM is nothing but a cancerous tumor leading this country as some kingdom.....
Hey, JD with his big words at it again.
I am glad to hear from you. I was getting worried since I didn't hear from you sooner. I just heard from kui but not from yero.
I feel like I know you guys.
Thank you all for a worthy debate. I am sure we will interact again.
See, two (three, four, or more) can disagree without being disagreeable.
Thank you...but you shouldn't worry...I was busy offering support to our IT guys apprehended by CCM to obtain bail. As you know they were caught doing nothing but tallying votes.....really?? this country is so ridiculous....I just hope one day we scrap peace....
I hate this country, I hate Kikwete, watanzania wengi ni wajinga, majuha na wa.pumbavu. I wish I was born in some other countries. CCM should just return back to one party state, there is no point of having multipartism when CCM is not willing to leave power peacefully.Kifyatu
