Had our #ProtestVote2026 campaigns today in Manafwa and Namisindwa Districts. We took time off the trail to visit the family and final resting place in Namisindwa of our fallen lawyer and comrade, the late Wameli Anthony, who passed away in February 2023. May his soul keep resting well, as we also carry on the mission to which he dedicated his final years on earth: the mission of fighting for a free and just Uganda. #ANewUgandaNow #FreeAllPoliticalPrisonersUg

We have unveiled comrade Asio Florence as our official flag bearer for Bukedea District Woman Member of Parliament to replace comrade Apio Mercy Marion whose ongoing court battles could disable her chances to get nominated on time following her deletion from the voters’ register under very unjustifiable circumstances.

Comrade Mercy of course appealed the decision of the EC tribunal before the High Court and her matter is likely to be decided after the closure of the nominations. We hope the saboteurs will not get any more excuses to render them ‘unopposed’!

STATEMENT ON THE FRAUDULENT NOMINATION OF JAMIRU KIVUMBI - BUKOTO CENTRAL CONSTITUENCY

Yesterday, one Jamiru Kivumbi conspired with the Masaka District Returning Officer and other regime factionaries to have himself nominated as a parliamentary candidate for Bukoto Central Constituency in Masaka District under the National Unity Platform. This crime was committed very early morning. By the time our official candidate, NTAMU ALEX KALINZI, reached the nomination venue at 9:30am, he found that the fraudster had completed his mission.

As soon as this matter was brought to our attention, the Party wrote to the Chairperson Electoral Commission, requesting that the imposter be de-nominated and the rightful candidate is nominated. The Commission has assured us that the complaint will be handled expeditiously. We shall be hoping for a quick resolution of this matter!

In the meantime, the Party is reporting cases of fraud and impersonation against Kivumbi and his conspirators.

We condemn this fraudulent conduct in the strongest terms possible.

THANK YOU KAMWOKYA for turning up in record numbers as we launched our campaign for KAMPALA CENTRAL. A big thank you to all leaders and comrades who joined us. Our commitment is to push for a Kampala which works for everyone!

I laid out a few of the critical issues on our agenda. A better taxation regime. Better education facilities. Increased access to quality healthcare. Improved roads and other infrastructure. Sports. Employment. Improved access to internet and other technology. Increased oversight and accountability for projects. Better management of garbage. Improved drainage. Economic empowerment, especially for low income earners - hand-up as against the current unsustainable system of handouts. Low cost housing for low income earners. Making conditions better for a night economy to thrive, etc, etc.

I emphasised however, that all these programs are better pushed if there is a government that truly represents the people, which is why everyone needs to play their part in the #ProtestVote2026.

He was our NUP LC5 flag bearer and has passed on from KIU after succumbing to injuries sustained from an accident he got involved in.

Just briefed the press this morning before hitting the road to Bushenyi. I have categorically stated that we shall not allow the military to interfere with the electoral process as we heard them say in the media. We saw a top military official saying that people should vote and leave the military to protect their vote. This is not the mandate of the military and we reject it firmly because it undermines our democracy.

We should not allow the military to interfere with the voting process because we all know who commands them. We urge the public to be vigilant and exercise their constitutional right to vote and protect their vote. The election under our constitution is only presided by the Electoral Commission, and not the military. The power should remain in the hands of the people.

He is in jail simply because of his loud voice against bad governance, and we are confident that the people of Nakawa East Constituency will overwhelmingly endorse him as their voice in Parliament.

We have been notified of the denomination of the National Unity Platform candidate for Woman MP, Nebbi District and the announcement of Museveni's minister Phiona Nyamutooro as unopposed. About 20 other NUP candidates are facing similar threats from regime operatives. In many cases, they have been abducting people who signed for our candidates, intimidating them and parading them before the EC to claim that they never signed for those candidates.

These cowards cannot stand fair competition! First, they illegally blocked funds to NUP making it difficult to pay nomination fees for many of our candidates. Then, they blocked several candidates with the greatest impunity, including in Bukedea, Mitooma, Buyende, etc. Now, they have resorted to denominating candidates using a weak, partisan Electoral Commission. Byabakama must know that the world is watching! As we explore all legal avenues to challenge these action, let us be reminded that we can put a complete end to this criminality through the

In our Manifesto point number seven, the NUP seeks to ensure that land rights for all are guaranteed and protected. We will establish a system that stops land grabbing, protects land ownership for citizens and guarantee fair compensation for all whose land has been illegally seized.
