The former President of the United States, Bill Clinton labeled Arusha as the "Geneva" of Africa when he came to Arusha in 2000 to witness the brokered Burundi peace talks that was presided by mzee Mandela.
There is a piece in the Arusha Times with the following:
While many high rise buildings and palaces sprout in Arusha, slum areas
continue to bear an appaling look day after day. Those living in this
Unga Limited street hardly consider themselves part of the "Geneva of
Africa". Unga Ltd is often regarded as the "incubator" of criminals.

What about us Tanzanians who live in the slums? Are we part of the "Geneva" of Africa?
