Tanzania's milk imports ban has hit Kenyan dairies hard!

Huwa nikisoma mnavyoandika wakenya nawashangaa na kuwaonea huruma.

Many Tanzanians (including myself) consume unprocessed Milk which remains undocumented,
Those information you rely are unrealistic.

Same situation with Kenya, But on this topic you can't hide behind "Undocumented" the data by WHO account even for the raw milk, if you read the whole thing, they are very detailed,
1) How much Raw milk is produced in the country.
2) What % is marketed ( raw milk + processed)
3) what % of the marketed milk is processed or raw..
4) what % of raw milk is exported..
5) the amount of long life milk imported into Tz..

The reports have all that information, so there is no hiding behind undocumented excuses...

And in that report, They say Tanzania has the 2nd highest number of cows after Ethiopia... Ethiopia has 50 million cows and Tz has about 28 million if I rem correctly...but of these 28 million only about 700k are grade cows (improved breed) the rest of the cows are traditional cows with low production of milk..
In comparison Kenya has around 9 million traditional cows plus 4 Million improved high yielding dairy cows... Infact this makes Kenya to have the highest number of dairy cows (bred specifically for milk) in Africa, followed by South Africa..

All in All, Tz produces 2 Billion Litters of Milk yearly from its cows..
Kenya produces 5 Billion litters of milk from her cows.. Those numbers are for raw milk, then they go ahead to document what %s of that 2B and 5B is utilised at the farmers family levels, sold at the local market and neighbours as raw, sold to processors....etc the only data they dont document is the % amount of milk drunk by calves because its hard to document..

But the ultimate King in the dairy industry is SA, they produce less milk but earn way more than Kenya.. This is because 90% of milk in SA is processed...

In Kenya only 60% of milk is marketed, of this 60% milk sold, 84% is sold as raw milk..

While in Tz, of the 2 Billion produced, only 50 Million liters is processed locally...

Congratulations!
Now drink your own milk!!

Pombe magufuli hatutishi kwani tz ndio tu wanaweza kuyanywa maziwa ya brookside anyway wekeni hata ukuta wa kututenganisha coz we don't give a damn! about the damn! tz market!
