Government denies video of bodies seen at Mwananyamala Hospital, claims it was fabricated to create panic
The Government, through the Ministry of Health, has denied claims that spread online starting the night of November 15 via a video showing bodies of deceased people lying on the floor and others on tables, purported to be in the mortuary of Mwananyamala Regional Referral Hospital. The bodies were said to be from police attacks against civilians during the election. The Ministry said the video is not real and was fabricated by criminals to cause panic among citizens.
Shortly after the denial, photos began to be shared online, with some identifying relatives in the video and others confirming metadata and location authenticity by comparing it to past events using technology.
After angry citizens' comments escalated on the Ministry's social media pages, the content was temporarily removed (archived), but it was reposted later after the Ministry blocked citizens from commenting.
Public Opinion: Many have shown anger at the denial, questioning: How can the Ministry deny it when several people who were missing their relatives have identified them in the video, while photos from past events increasingly confirm its authenticity?
Others questioned: if they are so sure the video is not real, why did they delete the content and repost it while blocking comments?
Also, other citizens have said that such incidents are further fueling their anger and boosting their motivation to participate in the protests being organized for December 9, known as “D9”.
In a surprising turn of events, traditional media outlets did not publish this information at all, not even on their social media pages, as it has been a trend with other clarifications issued by various government departments!
President Samia urges Tanzanians to continue prayers to protect the Nation and maintain peace
President Samia has asked Tanzanians to continue praying for the Nation to maintain peace, love, resilience, and solidarity. This is according to greetings delivered on November 16 by Prime Minister Mwigulu Nchemba to the congregation and leaders of the KKKT Kisasa Parish, Dodoma.
Mwigulu emphasized that it is the duty of every Tanzanian to protect peace, during the service which was led by Bishop Christian Ndossa and attended by various government and Parliamentary leaders, including Mwigulu's wife, Deputy Speaker Daniel Sillo, and several MPs.
Public opinion: Many citizens have said that using houses of worship to preach peace. At the same time, not a single one of those who committed the killings has been held accountable, mocking God and Tanzanians, insisting that what is needed is real accountability and not performances to try to launder their image.
Others have criticized using a house of worship for politics, saying what Prime Minister Mwigulu did is no different from what Bishop Gwajima did. Yet, Gwajima's churches are closed, and he continues to be hunted just because he had opinions different from the government's.
Dr. Malisa: Samia should resign before December 9 or face the largest protests ever seen in Africa
A former member of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), Dr. Godfrey Malisa, has announced via social media that there will be massive protests on December 9 to oppose President Samia's leadership and what he calls "Samia's illegitimate Government," saying that day is when, “The world will see unique, historic, and non-violent protests,” while urging Tanzanians to turn out in large numbers and demand their rights peacefully.
Malisa has insisted that the protests will not cause destruction, reminding protestors to remain calm and not respond to provocation, and he has also asked Police Force officers not to get directly involved, claiming that the army will manage and protect the protestors on that day.
Early in 2025, Dr. Malisa opposed President Samia's nomination when she was chosen to fly the party's (CCM) flag in the Presidential race, saying the party's constitution was not followed. However, he was later stripped of his membership for betraying the party.
Public opinion: Dr. Malisa's announcement seems to have motivated many citizens, especially the youth, to turn out for the protests, with many supporting the call, urging peaceful participation and carrying banners with messages demanding change, while warning the Police Force to avoid excessive force on that day.
