State Attorneys Association strongly condemns the violence and protests of October 29, claiming that the demonstrations were illegal
The Tanzania Government Attorneys Association (TPBA) has strongly condemned the violence, killings, and destruction of property that occurred during the 2025 General Election, and offered condolences to the victims while supporting President Samia's order for a thorough investigation into the perpetrators who committed violence during the election.
TPBA stated that the October 29 protests were illegal because they violated a Police ban, while insisting that the use of significant force was necessary and a legal responsibility. It also stated that the control of internet communications can be legally exercised for National Security. It reminded citizens that - rights should be accompanied by the responsibility to respect the Constitution and lawful Authorities.
The association has called for calm, unity, and reconciliation talks to maintain national peace.

The Treason case facing CHADEMA Chairman, Tundu Lissu, has been adjourned until the Court Registrar sets a schedule, after Lissu objected to the room where witness 'P11', who is a protected witness (anonymous witness), was placed.
Lissu explained that a witness must be in an area where they can be seen only by the Judge or Magistrate, without being seen by others. However, Lissu said that in the courtroom's current setup, the judge cannot see and identify the witness during the case.
Furthermore, he has challenged the legality of the witness protection law, claiming it has not been published in the government gazette and that judges have not been given a list of protected witnesses, contrary to a previous court order.
The prosecution, led by Principal State Attorney Nassoro Katuga, has requested more time to respond to these arguments.

Heche also announced that CHADEMA has provided lawyers across the country to assist all those facing treason charges following the events that occurred during the election, insisting that there is no turning back until liberation is achieved.

People identifying themselves as Police Officers have arrested the Chairman of Tanzania's leading Opposition Party - Chama cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (CHADEMA) Northern Zone, Advocate Samwel Welwel, in the Kibaoni area of Arusha, as he was heading to his home village in Karatu.
Preliminary reports indicate that the Chairman has been taken to the Karatu police station and is being questioned because they "suspect" he wants to flee the country.
Public opinion:
The majority of citizens are angered by the incidents of people being arbitrarily arrested by the Police Force, seeing the reason given for arresting the leader as having no merit or legal basis.

The National Chairman of the ACT-Wazalendo Youth Wing, Abdul Nondo, has condemned the killings of citizens who were shot dead during protests, saying no law authorizes a person to be killed for the offense of protesting without a permit, insisting that all those involved in these killings must be held accountable after a thorough investigation is conducted.
Responding to statements from Government leaders and the youth league (UVCCM) Chairman, Mohammed Kawaida, Nondo said that instead of using bullets, the Police should have arrested them and taken them to court.
Nondo also called for national reconciliation involving all social, political, and religious groups, saying the reconciliation should be coordinated by a neutral party (a third party) instead of the Government to ensure justice, transparency, and true inclusion, to build national unity and heal social wounds.
