Residents living near the East African Crude Oil Pipeline route in Lwengo and Kyotera districts have accused the project developers of failing to deliver on promises made before the construction of the pipeline began.
The affected communities allege that the government forcibly acquired their land, sued some residents for resisting the project, and left many without fair compensation.
Others claim their water sources were destroyed, while some say families whose graves were relocated were not treated with the dignity they had been promised.
