US President Barack Obama has warned Russia any military intervention in Ukraine would be "deeply destabilising", as Kiev claims Russian troops have invaded.
He said: "The United States will stand with the international community in affirming that there will be costs for any military intervention in Ukraine.
"We are now deeply concerned by reports of military movements taken by the Russian Federation inside of Ukraine."

Oleksandr Turchynov said: "I personally appeal to President Putin to immediately stop military provocation and to withdraw from the Autonomous Republic of Crimea ... It's a naked aggression against Ukraine."
Speaking after a private meeting at the United Nations, Ukraine's ambassador to the UN, Yuriy Sergeyev, said there was an "external presence" in Crimea "encouraging separatism".

Armed men were seen patrolling the perimeter at Simferopol, a civilian airport, and there were also reports Russian forces were blocking Sevastopol's military airport.
Despite the claims from Kiev, a military source quoted by the Interfax news agency said the armed men at Sevastopol had extended their control by taking over the runway.

Obama and his european allies consider boycotting G8 meeting planned on june in sochi, russia.

Is this all they can do?..meanwhile russian are going on securing someparty of crimea including tv station, intanet, call service is cut.
This showdown could escalate dangerously.

i think russian have gone a step too far.this is military invasion on another country.

It was expected, Obama backed down on Syria following Putins stand. Putin intimidates US of A yet again.

russia failed diplomatically to preventing E.U influence on ukraine now they want to forcefully prevent ukraine from going west and they'll not successed

This is what happens when you have a leader, with a cold war mentality. Putin is doomed to fail, USSR does not exist anymore!.

[TD]In fact, it's well known that the Russian military has largely been significantly degrading overall since the end of the Cold War, despite the occasional cosmetic revamps and minor missile platform upgrades.

It's almost like TPTB are trying to puff up and inflate Russia to make them this big, bad, strong boogeyman that could kick our a**es. They couldn't, and they wouldn't be suicidal enough to try.

I like that!!

Russia is bound by an international treaty, so is ukraine. Russia has a security agreement with ukraine regarding Crimea and on top of that, Russia legislated protection of her citizens outside her territory.

Russia doesnt need to invade Ukraine, there have been naval bases and russian soldiers in Ukraine for a long time.

so are you trying to say RUSSIA INVASION is legal??can you protect your citizen inside another state by taking over airport and parliament buildings and raising your flag in that country?

President Putin has to rethink over his country's decision to invade Ukraine. The United States and its allies have got a deal to make sure they win this "game". Ukraine wants to establish "new relation" with the West. Russia has already lost. And the decision made to invade Ukraine goes against international treaty to respect sovereignty of other country.

us cannot do anything against russia they both protecting their interest,

hapo kama Russia ana ubavu basi aonyeshe, kama yeye ni kanyaboya tu basi audhihirishie ulimwengu kuwa yeye pia ni mtumwa wa magaribi.

When Bush Jr was in power back then, the same scenerio happened in Georgia regarding Abkhazia na Osetia regions. Bush Jr with all his arrogant behaviour did nothing to stop Russians or Putin in that context.

Again, I expect US under Obama will do nothing this time to stop Putin and very likely Crimea and some parts of East Ukrain regions will spit from the rest of the country and form independent republics under Kremlin watchful eyes.

obama wapige mkwara afrika hapo kwa urusi unaaibika sasa hivi.

They are using the same version of France inviding Ivory Cost and ousting the President, the same thing France are doing in Republic of Central Africa, the similar thing, NATO did in Libya...that is to protect citizen and other interests.
