THE UNIVERSITY OF
DODOMA


The University of Dodoma invites applications from suitably qualified Tanzanians to fill the following positions.


1. Tutorial Assistants (14 positions)

QUALIFICATIONS:
This is a training post. Applicants must possess at least a Bachelors degree with a GPA of 3.8 and above and for unclassified degrees, overall average of B grade or above.

2. Assistant Lecturers (13 positions)

QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must be holders of Bachelors degree with overall GPA of 3.8 or above and a B+ average in their Masters Degree. For Science fields and Law; Bachelors degree of GPA 3.5 may also be considered.

3. Senior Lecturers (3 positions)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must be holders of a PhD from a recognized University plus Masters and Bachelors Degree with appropriate GPA’s Must have at least 6 publications since his/her last promotion. 50% of the publications i.e. papers, articles must be published in international or referred journals. In case of the co-authored paper, 50% of those publications, he/she must be the main author.


Successful candidates for all the positions will be expected to:
(i) Teach undergraduate and postgraduate students
(ii) Conduct research and publish in their fields of specialization
(iii) Conduct seminars
(iv) Provide consultancy and public services in their fields of specialization
(v) Attend any other duties as may be assigned by the respective Heads of Department/Other University Organs


REMUNERATION:
Attractive remuneration packages will be offered to successful candidates in accordance with Government Circular from the Treasury
Registrar and other terms and conditions applicable to the Public Service.

The University of Dodoma invites applications from suitably qualified Tanzanians to fill the following positions.

1. POSITION: DIRECTOR OF PLANNING AND INVESTMENT (1 position)
Required qualifications
Holder of a Masters degree in Planning, Economics, Finance, Statistics, or its equivalent plus at least ten years of relevant work experience, five of which must be at a senior management position in a reputable institution. He/she should have a strong background of strategic planning and project management. He/she should be computer literate with advanced knowledge of planning and investments management packages.

Duties and responsibilities:
(i) Heads the Directorate and overall in-charge of Planning and Investments of the
University
(ii) Prepares budget speeches for submission to the Ministry responsible for Higher
Education, investment plans and project documents, investment and planning policies
and operational procedures
(iii)Performs any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by one’s reporting Officer

2. POSITION: INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY
MANAGER (1 position)
Required qualifications
Holder of a Masters Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, and
Microsoft Certified Systems Developer (MCSD) or Microsoft Certified Database
Administrator (MCDBA) or Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CNA)
qualification, plus at least ten years experience, five of which must be at a senior
management position in a reputable institution. Should have a strong background of ICT systems.

(b) Basic Duties
(i) Serves as the overall in charge of the ICT Unit
(ii) Ensures that there is deployment of state of the art ICT for effectiveness and
efficiency and that there is maximum application and utilization of ICT resources across the University;DODOMA
(iii) Coordinates the development, review and implementation of UDOM’s ICT
Policies, Strategies and Master Plan;
(iv) Prepares recommendations for ICT projects and coordinates their
implementation and review;
(v) Ensures security of ICT infrastructure in the University and ensures proper
maintenance, support and functioning of ICT infrastructure across the
University
(vi) Performs any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by one’s reporting Officer



3. POSITION: DEAN OF STUDENTS (1 position)
Required qualifications
Holders of Master’s degree in Education, Education Psychology, Counselling and Guidance, Social Work or its equivalent with relevant working experience of not less than five years in a similar and reputable organization. A PhD in Guidance/Education Psychology/Counselling will be an added advantage

Basic Duties
(i) An overall in charge of students’ welfare at the University
(ii) Administers students' welfare services including accommodation, recreation, health
and catering, supervises general elections of students’ organization, counsels students
and coordinates counselling services of the wardens at the university, chief advisor of
the students' organization
(iii) Performs any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by one’s reporting Officer

4. POSITION: ACCOUNTS ASSISTANTS (2 position)
Required qualifications
Holder of ATEC II, Diploma in Accountancy with working experience of at least four years in a similar position
Basic Duties
Receives and keeps in proper custody all incoming bills and claims and maintains primary books of accounts

5. POSITION: ARTISANS (1 position)
Required qualifications
Holder of Form IV certificate, Trade Test Grade II plus relevant working experience of at least four years in a similar position
Basic Duties
Performs with minimum supervision-large technical jobs requiring high level of skills/craftsmanship

6. POSITION: LIBRARY ASSISTANTS (9 positions)
Required qualifications
Form VI certificate with two Principals Passes or Form IV certificate plus a Certificate in Library
studies or successful completion of the Government Lower Standard Library examination or Diploma in Library and Information Studies.
Basic Duties
Administers the library and library records, references and readers services


7. POSITION: JANITORS (1 Position)
Required qualifications
Diploma in Education or Home Economics or equivalent from a recognized institution. Applicants with past experience of not less than FOUR (4) years in related field will have an added advantage.

In-charge of the maintenance of the entire hall of residence including rooms, offices and compound

8. POSITION: WARDENS (2 positions)
Required qualifications
Holders of a University degree with a bias in Educational Psychology/Divinity or Social Welfare;
Advanced Diploma in Social Welfare or Community Development from a recognised institution
Applicants with at least FOUR (4) years working experience in related fields will have an added
advantage.
Basic Duties
Co-ordinates administrative chores pertaining to halls of residence and ensures that University By-laws and regulations guiding the students' life in halls of residence are being observed;

9. POSITION: ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS (3 positions)
Required qualifications
Holder of a University degree or Advanced Diploma in Public/Business Administration, Sociology, Human Resources or Law from a recognized institution plus at least four years of relevant work experience in a reputable institution/organization.

Basic Duties
Deals with general University administration and Management

10. . POSITION: PERSONAL SECRETARIES (3 positions)
Required qualifications
Form IV/VI with credit/principal passes in English and Kiswahili plus 100/120 w.p.m. shorthand in English or Kiswahili and 50 w.p.m. Diploma in Secretarial Studies from a recognized Institution plus advanced training in modern office technology including computer application with office administration relevant working experience of at least four years in a similar senior position.
Basic Duties
Handles all correspondence and Secretarial duties

11. POSITION: RECEPTIONIST (2 positions)
Required qualifications
(a) Form IV Certificate with passes in English and Kiswahili and training in hospitality plus a working experience of not less than four years in a reputable institution/organization.
(b) Fluency in English and Kiswahili languages
Basic Duties
Receives and direct guests/visitors of the University

12. POSITION: DRIVERS (1 position)
Required qualifications
Form IV Certificate with passes in Kiswahili and English. A valid Class C Driving Licence and
working experience of not less than four years in a reputable institution/organization. . Possession of Trade Test Grade II/Drivers Grade II certificate from recognised Institutions such as NIT or VETA, will be an added advantage.
Basic Duties:
Drives and Maintains institutional vehicles

13. POSITION: CLERICAL /RECORDS MANAGEMENT OFFICER (2 positions)
Required qualifications
A certificate in records management plus Form VI certificate with two principal passes in arts subjects
and must have a credit pass in English at Form Four level plus at least four years of relevant work experience in a reputable institution/organization.

Handles all registry activities and office records

14. POSITION: AUXILIARY POLICE (1 position)
Required qualifications
Form IV certificate with passes in English, Kiswahili, History or Civics or Form VI with passes in
English, Kiswahili and History plus National Service Training and/or People's Militia Training Phase II and/or any other form of military training plus at least four years of relevant work experience in a reputable institution/organization. The candidate must be vetted by the police
Duties and responsibilities:
· Assists in the daily routine beats around the campus so as to maintain peace and order
· Guard’s property of the University.
· Performs any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by one’s reporting Officer.
