Position Overview:

The Monitoring and Evaluation assistant monitors progress towards mandatory results and annual performance standard (APS) in assigned geographic and technical areas. S/he will conduct M&E capacity-building as part of clinical trainings and during site visits to provide mentoring on data analysis and use to health care providers. S/he will be required to provide support to technical teams to ensure data quality and timely reporting for project performance and participate in assessments and communication of project results at regional, district/council, facility, and community levels. Also, s/he will support the use of a health management information system to collect RMNCAH data and provide technical assistance to R/CHMTs and HMTs in data management, analysis, and use.

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • University degree in health informatics, public health, monitoring and evaluation, sociology, demography, statistics, computer science, or any other social science field [Master's Degree will be an added advantage].
  • At least five years of progressively practical working experience as M&E Personnel in public health interventions related to RMNCAH [both at facility and community].
  • Conversant in statistical computer applications such as SPSS, DHIS2, MS Excel, STATA, Train SMART; IPRS; Epi Info.
  • Experience working with USAID-funded projects is needed.
  • Familiarity with Tanzania's health management information system and other national M&E systems.
  • Practical experience in data collection using digital platforms, i.e., CommCare, ODK, Kobo Toolbox, etc.
  • Conversant in data analysis; data quality assessments, data management mentorship; and data visualization.
  • Ability to convey results to non-technical stakeholders, generate interest in the use of M&E. results, and help technical team apply them to make programmatic improvements.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills in English and Kiswahili
  • Ability to travel up to 40%
