-The said man, identified as Shylam Acharya, allegedly stole an Indian doctor's credentials and went with them to Australia where he worked as physician in local hospitals
-The local media earlier reported that the fake doctor stole the identify of Dr Sarang Chitale who worked in India some years back. And now the fake doctor is missing
Australian police have launched a man hunt for a man who had been exposed for masquerading as a doctor using real doctor's name and qualifications. The said man, identified as Shyam Achrya, allegedly worked as a doctor for 11 years in the country's local hospitals.
He is being accused of stealing a doctor's name and qualifications in India before moving to Australia where he went ahead to acquire citizenship.
"It's a bit disturbing that a foreign national could get through our borders with a fake passport and ID based on an Indian citizen who had trained as a doctor," says Brad Hazzard, NSW Health Minster.
Achrya reportedly stole the identity and qualifications of Dr Sarang Chitale who worked in India some years back. The suspect is facing a fine of up to $30,000 and possible jail term in Australia for identity theft and for defrauding the country's healthcare institutions.
Unfortunately, the man has gone missing. The authorities say recent attempts to find him have not been successful.
It is feared that the suspect must have travelled out of the country to unknown destination in the wake of the allegations being labelled against him.
The search for Achrya continues.
