Mr Isaac Semakadde, Uganda Law Society President(ULS) said the legal body will nolonger persue the 5billion pledge or any other support from the National Resistance Movenment.(NRM)
“The ULS shall nolonger persue, acknowlege, or rely upon the unfulfilled 2018 pledge or any similar inducements that could imperil the Bar’s independence.” Mr Semakadde Said.
It should be noted that in 2018, president Museveni made a 5billion pledge towards the construction of the ULS House in kololo, Kampala.
According to the lawyers, the society maintains that finacial independence is critical to its mandate of defending the rule of law, advocating for justice and holding leaders accountable.
The Society also says the construction of the ULS house has progressed through member contributions and internal resource mobilisation. Daily monitor
