📍Curfew Imposed in Mekelle.
Mekelle’s new administration has imposed a vehicle curfew from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM starting November 6. Also residents have until November 9 to surrender weapons under a three-day amnesty. Tigray Peace Forces, backed by the military, have launched intensive door-to-door searches targeting TPLF members and supporters. The city remains tense.
📍China Dispatches Envoys
China has sent senior diplomatic envoys to both Addis Ababa and Asmara. Eritrea’s Ministry of Information said Beijing through its envoy reaffirmed that Eritrea’s sovereignty and territorial integrity must be respected. In Addis Ababa, Special Envoy Liu Xianfa met Ethiopia’s foreign minister.
📍Russia has reportedly agreed to transfer the S-400 missile defence system previously sold to Turkey to Ethiopia via a state loan. The deal is said to stem from the recent BRICS summit.
📍Germany’s foreign minister called on Ethiopia to avoid further escalation, stressing the importance of Ethiopia to the regions stability. Eritrea objected and responded that stability cannot be defined solely by one country’s interests while ignoring the sovereignty and security concerns of its neighbours.
📍Gen. Tsadkan Retires from Combat
Lt. Gen. Tsadkan Gebretensae announced he is stepping away from active fighting, saying he has fulfilled his role and will no longer stand with any organised force. The move has drawn accusations of betrayal from some critics over his alleged role in the recent war against Tigray forces
