Radio DJ Dr Fox was today arrested at Magic Radio's Soho studio in connection with alleged sexual offences. The married 53-year-old, whose full name is Neil Fox, was today being quizzed by police over two claims of sexual misconduct – one historic, and one more recent. Bauer Media, which owns Magic FM, confirmed the arrest in a statement to the Standard and said his show would be off air for the foreseeable future while the claims are dealt with. It said: "Bauer Media can confirm that Neil Fox, presenter of the Magic Radio breakfast show, was today arrested by Westminster Police. He is currently being questioned about various allegations.
"In the circumstances Neil will be off air from tomorrow to enable him to devote his full attention to dealing with these matters. All other aspects of his contract will remain unchanged while matters are resolved. We can make no further comment at this stage."
Scotland Yard said he was not being held as part of Operation Yewtree. A spokesman added: "Officers from Westminster have this morning, Tuesday, 30 September, arrested a 53-year-old man following allegations of historic sexual assault against two women. "The man remains in custody at a central London police station. On 30 September, officers searched an address in SW6 and in the Littlehampton area of West Sussex. The man was arrested at a business address in W1."
Fox, who was previously a judge on Pop Idol alongside Simon Cowell and Pete Waterman, presents Magic FM's More Music Breakfast Show between 6am and 9am on weekdays. He attended Kingston Grammar School and Bath University before embarking on a long career in TV and radio. He has three children and owns a multi-million pound house in Fulham as well as a house in West Sussex.
