This thread is a celebration of contemporary Kenyan Music. With the help of the mod, Ab-Titchaz, we will keep it that way. Please take your war of words to another thread.

Ab-Titchaz I am looking for a Kenyan act that is into parody.

Parodying big name politicians, writers or fellow performance artists would do just swell.

If only to see the highs and lows plus inticacies of the artistry usually employed to perfect the trapeze circus entailed.

I am also interested to know how did K-South ( Bamboo and Dobeez aka Abbas) pan out, they had a hot album in the early 2000s but I haven't heard much about them lately, not that I can say I have been consistently following the Kenyan hip hop scene.

Greetings Grand Mufti,

Based on my current circumstances I dont really have much to offer in explaining your queries mainly
because of the politics of the Jamhuri. When Moi was president, there used to be a bunch of such songs
parodying the political establishment back then. Mostly by folks from the central part of Kenya who sw
Moi as the devil incarnate. However since the tables were turned the political establishment became
'favaroble' for most of these artists, the umph kinda fizzled out. Right now they mostly go against
Raila for crying out loud.

We might have to call on the chantings of one General Smatta, to keep us posted on the K-South
group. Mwenzio nilikua nishahamia bongo kitambo when these guys came pon da scene. Kwa hivyo
naomba samahani.
Dhuks, any infor on K-South? Tunaomba utujuze tafadhali. Shukran.

There used to be a guy called kajairo that made humorous renditions of other musicians' pieces. I don't know if that is what he is asking about? More recently there was a Kenyatta university duo going by the name Serikaly. Videos available on Youtube. Couldn't link here since this thread is for something else entirely.

Niaje mkuu, its been a while. I loved K south back then,.. from what I recall Bamboo went solo for a minute, then got saved, then did a 360 to the U.S kubeba ma boksi huko coz the music industry was not working positively for him despite the fame akamwacha ndugu yake Abas Dobeez in the cold. Abas did a stint with chiwawa which didnt work out well for him after Chiwawa smashes the wife. Bamboo came back i think last year, did a song with doobeez but the chemistry aint there no more. thats all I know. blessed
