Key Responsibilities,
· Ensure quality implementation of services for mentally ill clients in Nyarugusu refugee camp, ensuring adherence to donor agreement and regulations, as well as IRC Tanzania's country program strategic plan.

· Identify persons with mental illness in the community and track their list for provision of care and support according to their needs in coordination with the CBR/PSN Manager.

· Identify the needs of persons with mentally ill and work with them to address their special needs and problems as per approval of PSN-CBR Manager.

· Encourage mentally ill clients to talk about their needs, feelings and supporting behavior change for mentally ill cases, evaluate outcome of their psychosocial support therapy and create coping mechanisms for the cases of mentally ill regardless of the cause.

· Conducting counseling sessions with mentally ill clients individually or in groups in a weekly basis to assess their needs and enable them to build trust in accordance with the medical protocol in collaboration with other medical rehabilitation and health services providers in line with the mental health guideline.

· In collaboration with the CBR/PSN Manager, design a strategy, priorities and a detailed work plan for psychosocial activities for mentally ill clients and ensure that incentive staffs, care givers and other services providers are well capacitated on the concepts of psychosocial support in Nyarugusu camp.

· Mobilize mentally ill cases to form their own self help groups , aiming at building self confidence, self governance and self esteem helping them to identify ways to integrate with others into camp community (such as formal education, skills development training, youth activities, and cultural groups aiming at strengthen their Psychosocial recovery.

· Mobilize community members and other voluntary structures to establish community mechanisms to prevent mental illness and support mentally ill clients at community level in collaboration with CBR/PSN incentive staff, set model of Psychosocial support services at community level by providing constant communication with social voluntary structures.

· Ensure a functioning, efficient referral system is in place for targeted cases within the camp and track referrals to ensure that services are provided as per approval of the CBR/PSN Manager.

· Monitor activities conducted for mentally ill cases by the refugee social workers and provide them with guidance and support in the improvement of their performance of in coordination with the CBR/PSN Manager.

· Ensure activities for mentally ill cases are well coordinated with those of other IRC sectors and NGOs present in the camps, including community mobilization, referral systems, and creating awareness in an integrated manner and ensure that the targeted objectives are met in coordination with the CBR/PSN Manager.

· Build and maintain effective relationships, with other services providers, colleagues, and external partners and supporters in line with the medical protocols.

· Track indicators and analyze data that reflects mentally ill cases and in relation to their care and support.

· Prepare activity reports, monthly for review by the Supervisor.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Diploma in Psychotherapy /Psychiatrist or relevant qualification in psychotherapy /Psychosocial science with at least 1 year relevant work experience; OR at least 2 years relevant experience.

· Experience working with mental ill clients and other vulnerable groups at community level required.

· Experience working in a refugee camp highly desirable.

· Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative required.

· Good IT skills: knowledge of MS Word; Excel and Outlook required.

· Swahili and good English written and oral skills required. French a plus
