Misplaced beliefs and rituals involving body parts from people with albinism have led to the barbaric slaughter of those unfortunate people – children and adults alike from those seeking easy monetary wealth. The slaughters of people with albinism began in Tanzania six years ago and has since spread to neighboring countries like Malawi.
Efforts of a boy with albinism to evade death by being butchered are captured in a fiction by Elias Mutani with the attention catching sinister title "Human Poachers".
The book was launched at a public event by Professor Joyce Ndalichako, Tanzania's Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Vocational Training, in Dar es Salaam on Thursday, 17 March 2016; is now available from TPH Bookshop, Samora Avenue - Dar es salaam.
