Al Shabaab has installed a new commander to manage its activities in Kenya after experiencing a noticeable downturn in operations along the Somalia Kenya frontier.

According to credible reports, Salmaan , a Kenyan by nationality, has been assigned responsibility for the group’s military and internal security apparatus, with a mandate to coordinate attacks and reorganize networks targeting the country. The leadership shift is widely viewed as a response to Kenya’s strengthened counterterrorism measures, which have significantly disrupted the group’s ability to operate and project force within Kenyan territory.
