President Uhuru Kenyatta's trip to the UK hit new heights on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, after British Prime Minister Boris Johnson publicised details of his country's new deal with Kenya.
A joint statement sent out by President Uhuru and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson revealed the details of a new deal set to run from 2020 to 2025.
The UK went on to break down their plans for Kenya into five unique pillars upon which the new partnership would be hinged on.
"We will work together across five pillars – mutual prosperity, security and stability, sustainable development, climate change, and people to people," reads an excerpt of their joint statement.

- Uhuru also secured various investments worth Ksh170 billion aimed at uplifting different sectors in the country as well as creating employment.
Under mutual prosperity: the UK pledged to increase its breadth and strength, boosting growth and improving living standards within Kenya.
On the second pillar two that touches on security and stability, the two countries vowed to work closely together to tackle the threat posed by violent extremists as well as cyber threats.
Pillar three – focusing on sustainable development – sets the shared goal of reducing extreme poverty and creating a more prosperous, safer and healthier Kenya, by building stability, tackling inequality and strengthening government systems and institutions.
Pillar four consequently commits the UK and Kenya to demonstrate global leadership on climate and environmental issues, by deploying expertise on climate finance, resilience and adaptation, renewable energy, biodiversity, and science and technology; creating green jobs; and facilitating peer learning.
Finally, under the people to people pillar, the two leaders promised to build productive alliances in skills and education; science and research; innovation and entrepreneurship; defence and security; and arts, culture
and sports via smoothening the ease of movement between the two nations.
Following the new pact, Uhuru announced that the two nations were set to enjoy the mutual benefits of improved relations.
