Biomedical Engineer at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences
Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) is inviting applications from suitably qualified Tanzanians to be considered for employment to fill vacant posts listed hereunder for MUHAS Academic Medical Centre (MAMC) located at its New Campus of Mloganzilla.

1. Biomedical Engineer II - 2 POSTS

a) Required Qualifications
Holder of Bachelor of Science Degree in Biomedical Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution and registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) as Professional Engineer. Computer skills will be an added advantage.

b) Duties and Responsibilities

i. Carries out preventive maintenance of biomedical equipments as per agreed schedules.
ii. Reviews plans for implementing preventive and corrective maintenance of biomedical equipments and other related machines.
iii. Coordinates installation of new biomedical equipments and other related machines in line with approved standards.
iv. Ensures standards of practice are maintained and safety precautions adhered to. .
v. Installs, adjust, maintain, repair biomedical equipments.
vi. Evaluates, Safety, Efficiency and Effectiveness of the biomedical equipments.
vii. Train clinicians and other Hospital and staff on the proper use of biomedical equipments.
viii. Participates in setting guidelines and standards for technical evaluation of tenders for supply of biomedical equipments.
ix. Writes specification of New biomedical equipments.
x. Maintains records of biomedical equipments.
xi. Maintains inventory of medical equipments of all existing and the incoming equipments.
xii. Inspects the incoming equipments before acceptance.
xiii. Ensures safe custody of the biomedical equipments.
xiv. Ensures timely availability of spares for repairs and maintenance.
xv. Reports big damage / breakdown of biomedical equipments in which repair is not within his/her capacity.
xvi. Prepares biomedical equipment database according to appropriate guidelines.
xvii. Performs any other related Duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by one's reporting officer

Jobs at The Ministry of Lands, Housing and Human Settlements Development
The Ministry of Lands, Housing and Human Settlements Development (MLHI-15D) with the support from the UK Department for international Development (OFID), Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) is implementing a three-year Land Tenure Support Programme (LTSP), which focuses on land tenure regularization, enhancement of land sector transparency, promotion of large-scale land-based investment and policy and institutional development in Kilombero, Ulanga and Malinyi Districts in Morogoro Region. The Ministry is seeking to recruit highly qualified and motivated Tanzanians to fill some vacant positions. The Ministry invites qualified candidates to submit their applications for the following positions:

1) Land Use Planner (1 Post)

The following will be the roles and responsibilities of the Land Use Planner:-

i. Assist the LTR Component with the design and development of a Participatory Village Land Use Planning in the Project Area, based on ortho-rectifled, geo-rectifled satellite imagery and topographic maps;
ii. Assist in developing effective PLUP training module;

iii. Participate in the design and creation of VLUP and supported documents and perform QAIQC of the outputs to be incorporated in the monitoring and evaluation framework, identify and propose updates to Village Land Use Plans were needed;

iv. Participate in producing material for awareness and conducting the sessions whenever required;

v. Train staff in land use planning identification, including the usage of imagery and VLUP techniques;
vi. Organizing workshops and meetings for promoting a dialogue and information exchange among various authorities and key stakeholders in village land use planning; and

vii. Review Participatory Land Use Planning (PLUP) practices and develop a planning concept and relevant tools, methods and approaches for VLUP work.

2. Geographic Information System (GIS) Expert (1 Post)

The following will be the roles and responsibilities of the GIS Expert:-

i. Assist in the design and development of a GIS application for collecting and recording data that is built on or tho-rectifled and geo-rectifled high resolution satellite imagery;

ii. Develop a parcel-based electronic map linked to the legal information;

iii. Work closely with the National Land Use Commission. Urban and Regional Planning Department, Surveys and Mapping Department and the Commissioner for Lands office in the Ministry;

iv. Update field data collection forms and input data into the GIS application;

v. Contribute in the design of QAJQC checks to be incorporated in the application to monitor data quality and deter fraud;

vi. Contribute in the design of a data model that will allow queries to be run to identify categories of claims; and

vi. Train staff in the use of the GIS applications, including geo-referencing of satellite imagery and hard copy maps, creation of shape files for delineated parcels and populating the database.

Director General of National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF)


INTRODUCTION
The National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) is a statutory Health Insurance Scheme established by the NHIF Act, Cap 395 so as to undertake the responsibility of insuring medical care services to its members. The Fund is dedicated to providing support to its beneficiaries to access quality social health services through a wide network of accredited health facilities throughout Tanzania. The NHIF envisions on becoming the leading Social Health Insurance Scheme of choice in the sub-Saharan region.

JOB TITLE: Director General
TERMS OF ENGAGEMENT: Five (5) years contract renewable.
REPORTS TO: The Board of Directors

JOB PURPOSE:
The Director General is the Chief Executive Officer of the Fund and is responsible for general conduct of operations and management functions of the Fund.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Formulates policies, regulations and manuals for sound administration of operational and administrative functions of the Fund.
2. Formulates and presents to the Board the Fund’s corporate plan, annual budgets and ensures that activities of the Fund conform as much as possible to the corporate plan and annual budgets.
3. Ensures the preparation of financial statements, progress reports of the Fund and presents them to the Board of Directors.
4. Serves as Secretary to the Board of Directors and in that capacity facilitates the work of the Board and of any other committee that the Board may choose to create.
5. Ensures that there are adequate means and arrangements in regard to safe custody of the Fund’s assets.
6. Ensures that the Fund maximizes its income and in that process maximizes its members’ benefits.
7. Provides leadership and promotes discipline, integrity and professionalism on the entire body of staff.
8. Makes key decisions on the overall management of the Fund.
9. Ensures compliance with the relevant laws, rules and regulations in the execution of all Fund activities.
10. Makes contacts and maintains rapport with local and international stakeholders of the Fund.
11. Acts as the Chief Spokesperson and representative of the Fund.
12. Gives periodic feedback to the Board of Directors regarding the Fund’s performance.
13. Performs such other duties as may be assigned to him/her by the Board from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Academic and Professional Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Economics, Corporate Management, Social Sciences preferably Social Security Administration, Insurance or any other equivalent qualifications. Training in Social Health Insurance or health financing will be an added advantage.

Work Experience:
At least ten (10) years working experience, six (6) of which in senior management position in a reputable organization

Desirable Skills and competencies: Good working knowledge of ICT Applications, Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing, good analytical and problem solving skills.

Desirable Personal Attributes: The aspirant for this post should be a person who leads by examples, demonstrates integrity, inspires others, encourages risk taking, fosters team work, leverages diversity, focuses on results, discovers and pursues opportunities, is persistent and able to lead change.

RENUMERATIONS
This position carries an attractive remuneration package in accordance with NHIF Schemes of Service and Staff Regulations.
