Job Description: Agronomist/Commercial horticulturists
Two Positions in Dar Es Salaam.
Horti Organics LTD is a privately owned limited company established in 2014 to involve in greenhouse construction, irrigation systems installation, crop management, farm planning, manufacturing and distribution of organic fertilizers as well as in the production of organic farm.
We invite interested, qualified, experienced and articulate Agronomist to manage both our own and clients' organic greenhouse farms and conventional open field farms
Agronomist/Commercial horticulturists are responsible for managing/overseeing the nursery, growth, harvesting, packaging, selling and distribution of vegetable/fruit crops and ornamental plants of the company's organic farm and clients greenhouses and other farms.
Typical responsibilities include:
· In addition to horticultural skills and knowledge, we look for evidence of initiative, commercial awareness and good problem solving, communication, team working and practical cultivation skills.
· All candidates must be physically fit and capable of working well under the pressure of meeting tight deadlines.
Job Requirements:
Qualification
The person should have completed Bachelor Degree (Horticulture/ plant science) and should have done higher study and broad bknowledge on horticultural crops production and management. Having a soil and weed management is additional qualification. Candidate having specialization in specific/commercial vegetable crops production and ornamental plants are given preference.
Experience:
Minimum 1 year practical agronomic experience.

- organizing horticultural trials; training greenhouse owners best ways of managing their farms
- analyzing horticultural yields, operational costs and financial returns;
- maintaining financial and administrative records;
- Collecting soil sample from the field and analyzing it;
- Recommending usage of appropriate organic fertilizers for the farmers
- writing/modifying business plans; supervising staff; developing new products;
- ensuring that deadlines and quality standards are met within set budgets;
- organizing/giving presentations and demonstrations;
- providing training for local staff and out growers;
- Monitoring the growth of crops carefully;
- Educating the local farmers about organic fertilizer;
