5 Reasons to Work in Tanzania

Perhaps you’re looking for a change of scenery, a chance to get away from normal and humdrum routines and move for a while to another nation, one that is both exotic and exciting. Africa is the first continent that comes to my mind – with its vast areas of still unexplored land and its rich natural resources, this beautiful group of nations is not often a chosen or even preferred destination for work, although you might jump at the opportunity to visit or go on a safari. But, Tanzania, the lovely country on the east coast of Africa, is worth considering, because:

• There is no civil war: It is one of the handful of African nations that is not ravaged and torn by civil war and strife. The government is stable and similar to any others you would find in democratic nations. This means that you don’t have to worry about losing your job or worse, your life, in ethnic conflicts and other wars.

• It’s a beautiful country: Tanzania enjoys a salubrious climate and offers decent living conditions. Depending on the city you choose to live in, you will find accommodation and social life according to your needs. While you may not find the hustle and bustle of major American cities here, you do have enough to keep you occupied. Besides, if you love nature and are happy to just commune with it, this is a great place to live in.

• The safaris are great: What could be more exciting than to use your weekends to take in the sights and sounds of a safari into the African heartland? You get to enjoy nature in natural surroundings, something that is not conceivable in the concrete jungle that is America.

• Nature beckons: If you enjoy the quiet outdoors, then Tanzania has a lot to offer in terms of hiking and trekking. The famous Mount Kilimanjaro calls Tanzania its home, and you’re also likely to find nature parks to satisfy the botanist in you. Besides, the country’s pristine beaches are made for holidays when you can relax and rejuvenate yourself before you have to report for work again on Monday morning.

• Jobs are available: There are many job openings in Tanzania for foreigners who are qualified. They offer competitive salaries and conducive accommodation options. If you’re not able to find a job in your hometown, it’s always wise to look for opportunities elsewhere.

Locals sijui kwanini hawalipwi vizuri most of the time!!

Umesahau ya sita, Officers wa uhamiaji wanahongeka, u can bribe them for u to do any crap u want, hata kama ni ya kunyanyasa junior staff wako kwa aina yoyote na ikathibitika, kama ksi ya babu nanihii mzungu wa pale t.

Pengine hiyo ndio hali ya maumbile ilivyo,mnakumbuka aliyosema Bwa. Yesu na hayo aliyasema maelfu ya miaka iliyopita lakini yanatokea leo na yataendelea kutokea:" NABII HAHESHIMIKI NYUMBANI KWAO" Kuna Waafrika wenngi ughaibuni wanaofanya vizuri. Wengine Pesa nyingi kwa kazi chafu.

Kiongozi, unasahau kazi sio mivyeti tu. Kuna mambo kama passion kwa profession yako, umakini, output, kujituma, n.k. hivi vitu havipatikani vyeti vyake, na ndio maana sehemu nyingine duniani ukitaka kazi kwanza unabwaga vyeti chini na wenye kampuni wanakuweka kwenye internship, wanakupima utafaa au utakuwa mzigo. Hivyo ule muonekano wako na mchango wako ndio wanaouhitaji sio mivyeti.

Kwa upande wa maisha, kiukweli kama mtu akiwa analipwa kwa scale za nje maisha ya Tz ni tambarare sana, maisha hayajawa ghali kupindukia kulingana na kipato cha scale za kimataifa.

Huu ni uoni wangu tu.

Pia kumbukeni, wanyamwezi wengi wanaokuja kufanya kazi Bongo wana letwa na wafadhili, yaani Donors. Siunajua misaada wanayotupa wanaakikisha ina baki kwao. Kwahiyo hata kama kuna Mbongo qualified hawata mchukua kama Senior employee - atalipwa kama local tuu. At the end most of the donated funds goes back to them [Donors]...

Sasa ishu iko kwenye private companies who are able to hire outsiders for the posts that local candidates can qualify. But even in this case there is no one to blame but ourselves. here is why:

1. There is little enforcement from the government institutions. Private companies easily get away with hiring foreigners for jobs locals can do. I have seen it at Kunduchi hotel where electricians are from India - yaani wahindi wakuja!. I was pissed off.

2. Some of us have paper degrees but no ability to translate theory into practice. Our education system is part to blame. This is a big issue...

3. Some qualified Tanzanians who are working abroad, are not yet motivated to return and take their rightful positions. It seems that some people are not yet convinced of the enormous salaries that can be attained by working in Bongo. I personnel know of several posts that have been filled by foreigners because no qualified wabongo were found. I am talking about $5000 to $12,000. Some of these companies went out of their way to look for wazawa, lakini wala.

Mkuu kuna jamaa mmoja alisikia kuna nafasi ya kazi kwenye moja ya Auditing firm za kigeni hapo Dar, huyu jamaa anafanya kazi kwenye moja ya makampuni makubwa ya Auditing USA. Akatumia network yake akapata detail za kazi na mshahara akavutiwa, cha ajabu wakati wanajadili mshahara kampuni inamtajia mshahara mdogo zaidi ya ule aliotonywa, akashindwa kuelewa wanataka kumpa shahara mdogo kwa vile yeye ni mtanzania au? Jamaa akaamua kuachana nao.

I see what you are saying everyday, esp makampuni ya utalii ndio yamezidi kwa kuleta foreign labour, hautaamini vikazi wanavyovifanya hawa watu na mishahara wanayopewa. cha kushangaza zaidi hata elimu hawana unashangaa mtu anapewa work permit unabaki unajiuliza hawa watu wa uhamiaji akili zao zikoje! hawaelewi maana ya expatriate? wewe na kadgree kako utaishia kufanya clerical work at a very junior position, what to do now na hawa jamaa wako kila mahali sasa?

Hivi hamna kipengele cha sheria kinacho mruhusu mbongo ku-object wakiomba visa extension?
