TZ ilikwisha achana na "regular" ages ago. Sasa hivi ni "super" tu ambayo according to TBS standards octane rating (RON) is 93. Kumekuwa na attempt ya kuipandisha kufikia 95...and as we speak, wadau wako kwenye mchakato wa ku-review petroleum standards - pengine hii change itakuwa one of them.......

Duh!!yani Super ndio 93 octane rating?!sasa mbona hiyo ni regular ughaibuni?!
l waufahamu wangu premium starts at 97 RON.with BP UK selling ultimate unleaded petroleum at 99 RON with super Ultimate unleaded with 102 RON.

kwa hiyo ndio kusema TZ hakuna 97 RON petrol?sasa wale wanaoendesha Porsche wanaweka nini kwenye magari yao?

At least we deserve to know the type of junks they throw at us!some cars have strict octane rating requirement.actually most cars made from 2000's.
no wonder motokaa zetu haiiishi kwenda kwa mafundi!

Interesting thread. nilikua na google kujua shell/BP super ni octane ngapi nikaikuta hii thread!!

However, something is not clear here...ndugu M-mbabe unaposema TBS standards octane rating (RON) is 93, unamaanisha RON rating au the USA based 93-95 octane ( = European 98 RON). I am hoping umechanganya hizo units, because search on the Internet tells me Super ya PB/Shell ni = European 98 RON, which is the US 93-94 octane rating.

In fact on my returning to Tanzania, I felt that the car was much more responsive to the fuel than when I was in New York city. I am suspecting the fuel rating is probably about 95 ( = European 100 RON). This is a highly modified turbo charged with complete access to Engine Control Unit (access to Air-fuel ratio adjustment, timing, and timing maps, turbo pressure control, etc). If the fuel was of lower rate I would have known immediately, as I could easily detect a knock (detonation). But now I am not so sure after reading this thread.

Does anybody from Shell/BP have inside information??
