IPA are architects and interior designers for a major renovation of the State House in Dar es Salaam which commenced in 1999 and is now nearing the end of the third and final phase of the work. The State House was originally built as the first British Governor's Residence and offices in 1923 and has been extended over the years to incorporate a banquet hall, visiting heads of state accommodation and the offices of the President and Vice President.

The State House renovation is the most prestigious construction project to take place in Tanzania in recent years. The renovation work has included not only a comprehensive overhaul of the building fabric (new roof, finishes, services, toilets, etc) but also new custom designed furniture, carpets and curtains which have been specially designed by IPA for this building.

Mwinyi for 10 yrs constructed the wall to mark boundaries of State House with destruction of the named zoo,OMG!.

Mkapa for 10 years did major renovation including installation of CCTV.

Kikwete for six years do repair of the walls by painting. Then, .....

OK, kama lazima hili dude lijengwe, basi wafanye yafuatayo;

1. Lijengwe na macontractor wa Tanzania. Ikiwezekana, kuwe kuna premium kwa contractor atayotoa tender bid inayozingatia ajira nyingi kwa wananchi kuliko kutumia mashine tu.

2. Lijengwe kwa namna ambayo linaweza ku-host mikutano mikubwa kama lile la WEF lililofanyika mwaka juzi pale Mlimani City. Hii itapunguzia wananchi wa Dar adha ya foleni.

3. Vile vile siyo vibaya wakifungua Ikulu kwa watu kutembelea na kujionea. Of course kutembelea kuwe kuna ratibiwa na kusimamiwa kwa hali ya juu. Sioni ubaya wa, kwa mfano, watoto wa shule kuruhusiwa kutembelea mjengo na kuona historia ya nchi yetu.
