Lwakatare Video: Metadata Information Can Easily Reveal Secret

Daah! JF mwisho!!. Unajua ***** you made a nice kick. Kudos. Tuambizane tu Tanzania si ya majuha. Nimekuwa naifuatilia clip ile hakika imetengenezwa na beginners. Makosa kibao. Baada ya kuiona nikarudi zangu kwenye shule ya MPEG ( hasa ISO/IEC Moving Picture Experts Group) hasa 7. Kwa faida ya wana JF MPEG 7 inaweza kusaidia kutambua au kuelezea vitu kama video au picha zilivyochukuliwa, lugha na uhusiano na picha, mtandao uliotumika, nk. Nilipowamaliza ni kwenye EAD (Encoded Archival Description), hii una trace mpaka ilikofichwa kabla ya kuwekwa online kwa kutumia mtandao alioutumia kuiweka(post) mtandaoni. Hahaaaa! ***** nitarudi na MPEG 21 kabla ya kushuka na shule nyingine.

The person who uploaded this video must be found so that he personally presents an evidence as to where, when and how he filmed Lwakatare, how he could arrange for filming, how did he knew or where did he got information that Lwakatare was going to plan for killing conspiracy, where did he got the filming equipments; and why he personally didn't immediately hand the video to the police for further investigation? And how possible that a mentally health person can publicly plan a conspiracy to kill?

1. CHADEMA administration should deal with this conspiracy seriously. It should never ever agree on conviction of Lwakatare based on a mere eye examination of the 99.99% likely to be planned video. Instead, CHADEMA should incorporate top PRIVATE IT investigators, if possible, ones specialized in metadata technology to scientifically falsify the allegation. There is no way that this video file misses metadata.

Let's be patient. I'm sure there are people working hard and more cleverly on this matter than we think! I think it is wise if the decision to apply meta analysis should be carried for the purpose of witnessing to the other side which purports this fraudulent action, before the court. Do not just do it, you may unknowingly benefit your enemies!

2. A person who uploaded this video uses Gmail account. His location can easily be traced using IP address (IP address can be static but it will always stay within the same range; fortunately, they are generally allocated to an ISP in blocks); and/or Geographical Information System (GIS) in terms of coordinates with the help of Google. Google would as well help to retrieve metadata stored in its servers during uploading exercise and log file for the activities he had been doing on internet (like posting on JF).

In short, with the help of Google, things are pretty more easier. Google knows him: when he was registered, where he was registered, which information he submitted during registration, what he does with the email account: e.g., when/where he was when logging in/out and so on.

Even if he uses fake names, fake IDs, fake email account, fake location or deletes all his email communications, or deletes his email account; all his records are stored in Google servers.

You will be surprised to note that:

a) although he uses fake identities, he can sometimes reveal his true identity,

b) although he uses fake anonymous (I mean known to him only, though not possible) email account, his account is connected to other accounts such as JF (it is possible that he has registered with the same email account on You Tube and JF, for example). In this way, his account will have informative details, together with other circumstantial evidences, means he identifies himself,

c) although he operates secretly, he sometimes forgets and sends, receives or processes email messages which identify him and other people; and the way he is related to them,

d) He gets internet connection from an ISP (which can be one of the telecom company(s)). In this way he is identified/located through IP address via a mobile phone, a modem or any other device. If he uses mobile phone for internet activities, his phone number is connected to other information via IP. He does not even need to register since his service provider knows who he is because of inter-connections through phone calls and messaging.

How funny is it to find that video pieces were transmitted through his email for compilation somewhere? May be outside Tanzania! Whatever he does including expunging his account, all information still resides within Google servers!


CHADEMA should seek for legal procedures if it needs Google involvement into this investigation. Here, Google is a good starting point which will provoke a series of other steps. Google Tech Team can help CHADEMA administration in many more sophisticated ways including but not limited to the above mentioned ones:

Metadata can reveal how an electronic file was created. Metadata for example can tell you whether this video was taken continuously from one place or just a combination of parts taken from different places in different times. It provides plenty of other information as well.

I'm certain for large percentage, that this video is a forgery. The only way to clear this dilemma is to work it the clever way by extracting the meta information associated with the video file!

I'm convinced that there is little chance for people (who may also be not intelligent enough) who created this video to have ever thought of the meta info hidden in the file. And because the video is posted on internet, that means they cannot take it all back in order to remove metadata. Metadata can be extracted by just executing a small piece of code in the command prompt.

Yes, information should be submitted to the court as an evidence or let some geek do it before the public in the court so that everyone can witness!

Alternatively: Extract images from a video, then get EXIF (exchangeable image file) to analyze.
