There are armies found in every country of the world, and as you might imagine, some are more powerful than the next. Their power comes from the weapon they have, but as we have already mentioned, the other factors as well.

Here we will look at 7 armies that have the most advanced technologies and serve as the most powerful in the world. These countries are listed in no particular order, but all share one thing in common, and that is the fact that they are on the forefront of defending their country with their massive collection of weapons ready at all times.

Italy

Italy is a country that has a population of 61.5 million people, with 27.9 million people available for the army. The Italian army is one of the top as far as advanced technology is concerned, as they have an array of weapons available and at their disposal at any given time. The Italian army has 600 tanks, 9,500 AFVs, 166 self-propelled guns, 22 multiple-launch rocket systems and a great deal of aircraft.

This includes a total of 795 jets and planes, 140 fighters and inceptors, and 436 helicopters, with 59 attack copters available. The Italian army also has 6 submarines and 10 mine warfare's.

United Kingdom

The United Kingdom is another one of the top armies in the world. Their army is often compared to the United States Army because of its size and the county's massive collection of weapons. There are more than 200,000 active members of the military found in the United Kingdom serving through three branches of the forces, including the army, navy, and the air force. There is a $59 billion defense budget in place. Despite the country's low number of active military members, the country has always acted professionally and has the tanks, armored carriers and missiles that help it earn its way to the top of the list. The United Kingdom army certainly is deserving of a top spot on the list of countries with the best armies in place.

France

France has a population of 65.9 million people, with 28.8 million people available for the armed forces. Currently the France army has an active military force of 360,000 people. The France army has a defense budget of $58 billion in place, so money is not an issue as far as defending their country is concerned. France has a total of 7,290 armored fighting vehicles, 423 tanks, 60 multiple-launch rocket systems and 149 self- propelled guns ready for protection of the country. In addition, France has 1,203 military aircraft available, with 287 fighters, 561 helicopters and 270 fixed-wing attack aircrafts. The country is consistently seeking new weapons to add to their arsenal.

There are also 43 attack helicopters available for defense in the country. France has one of Europe's greatest military industries, with many planes and tanks produced in the country. The France military become so powerful after the Cold War when the country designed its own nuclear force with silos, submarines and aircraft production.

North Korea

North Korea has 5 branches of military force- air force, navy, ground force, strategic missile force, and special operations. The country has one of the largest active duty numbers, with more than one million people enlisted in force. In addition, there are also 8 million people on reserve in the country. North Korea is equipped with a great number of advanced weapons, and they're not afraid to use them. Those weapons include both nuclear and chemical weapons.

North Korea is enemies with both South Korea and the United States of America. The country is one of the worlds most equipped for military battle, despite being a country that has been stricken with poverty. North Korea produces a number of nuclear weapons as well. The exact number of weapons that the country produces on a yearly basis isn't exactly known, but it is proposed that the number is pretty high. There is no doubt about it: North Korea is a country that has great technology and the means to fight a good war should the occasion to do so arise.

Iran

There are over 500,000 active members of the Iran armed forces, all of whom serve on a voluntary basis. The country has a defense budget in place of about $10 billion. An interesting fact about the military in the country is that they have more naval aircraft than the United Kingdom and United States combined, and nearly the same amount of helicopters as China, despite this country having more active duty members and a bigger defense budget. Iran has been able to provide themselves with a great amount of weapons with the creation of a military industrial complex, and throughout the years they have become very, very good at what they do.

Many years ago, the United States actually helped the country gain some of the military aircraft they now have. In 1975- 1978, 202 AH-1J Sea Cobra helicopters was sold to military forces of the country, although today only about 50 of those remain in use for service. The RIM-66 was also exported to several different countries, including Iran, from the United States. These rockets were first used in the 1960s, and they certainly deliver a powerful punch. Iran has the S-300 missile system, by their own claims, which is yet another military weapon that has been upgraded and enhanced over the years, creating a very powerful machine.

In fact, it is one of the most powerful missiles used today. Another weapon that Iran has for use in their army is the BGM-71 TOW. This is an anti-tank missile that the U.S. used back in 2003 during an assault against Sadaam Hussain's sons. And so, the missile was gained from the U.S. in 1986, with more than 2,000 of the powerful machines being given to the country. With such an arsenal of weapons, it is safe to say that Iran is a country that is on the defense with a very powerful backing.
China

China has the largest group of active military personnel on duty, with 2.3 million individuals currently serving. With a $129 billion defense budget, China has the second largest budget in the world. China has 9,150 tanks, 4,788 armored fighting vehicles, 1,710 self-propelled guns, and 1,770 multiple- launch rockets. A total of 2,788 aircraft units are available with 122 attack helicopters, 1,170 fighters and 885 fixed-wing aircrafts. China has many nuclear weapons at their disposal and an ever-increasing budget which both help the country top the list. In 2009, China showcased 52 military weapons which were on the forefront of advanced technology, including a KJ-200 and a J-10, among others. These powerful missiles are well equipped to handle strong U.S. military forces.
United States of America

The United States of America, without question, has the largest and most powerful army of any country in the world. With a population of 320 million people and 145.2 million available for service, the U.S. has the manpower to handle almost any type of attack that is presented. There is also an additional 850, 900 people on reserve. The United States has 8,400 tanks available, 1,330 multiple-launch rockets, more than 25,000 armored fighting vehicles, almost 2,000 self-propelled guns, and almost 1,800 towed artillery. There are 13,688 aircrafts available for the army, with 2,271 fighters, over 6,000 helicopters, 5,222 transport aircrafts, and 914 attack copters. In addition, the United States has 10 aircraft carriers, 62 destroyers, 72 submarines, and 13 mine warfare's. The defense budget in place in the United States is more than $612 billion with a purchasing power parity that exceeds $15 trillion. The United States has the largest and best aircraft and can be ready to defend their country within a very short period of time.

The United States has more than 100 different military bases, as well as a great deal of influence on military across the world. There are also several different ranks of military force available in the states. In addition, the United States has the second largest nuclear arsenal base in the world, the largest budget and the means to continuously provide training to active duty personal. The United States has also fought in a number of different wars against many different countries, so they have the experience that also backs all of these things up.

Russia

The Russian Army are a force to be reckoned with and it seems as though they have been flexing their muscles a lot recently. Thanks to the Soviet Union, the Russian Armed Forces has always been one step ahead of the game when it comes to technology. Nuclear technology is at the forefront of their game and has been for quite some time. Many countries are particularly wary about the number of nuclear weapons Russia has and the danger this could cause if they fall into the wrong hands. It isn't just nuclear technology that makes Russia so far advanced, however.

With a $70 billion annual defense budget this army can afford to invest in some pretty incredible weapons systems. The Pantsir-S1, for example, is an anti-aircraft system that looks like something out of a horror sci-fi movie. Add this to their fleet of high-tech warships, like the Bora-class guided-missle hovercraft, their virtually invisible submarine and some of the best jet fighters in the world, and you know Russia is not a country to be messed around with. Along with all their great technology Russia also has a huge number of army personnel, which secures them a place in the biggest (and scariest) army in the world.

India

Some people may be surprised to see India on our list, but it is always the quiet ones you want to watch out for. The Indian Armed Forces are pretty close with Russia and work on a lot of projects with the country in terms of technology development. This has ensured that they've crept up the list slowly and quietly, without many other countries being too worried about them. This country is also steadily modernizing all of the equipment they have been using over the last few years, in order to become one of the most technologically advanced armies in the world. The Futuristic Infantry Soldier As a System (F-INSAS) project is set to be completed by 2020. Co-op projects with Russia have included the Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft and a Multirole Transport Aircraft, to name a few. India have also been looking into nuclear technologies to help further their modernization and this has raised a few eyebrows. If that wasn't enough to convince you the Indian Armed Forces deserve a place on this list then you might like to know that they're the world's largest arms importer from countries such as Russia, France, the US and Israel.

Germany

Of course Germany were going to make it onto this list, when you consider how much they have done over the last 50 to 100 years. Although they are not as daunting as they used to be during WWII the German Armed Forces have been working on a number of modern advancements to keep their place as a dominant force in Europe and the rest of the world. Most recently they have invested in a number of Leopard 2 A7 tanks which are powerful units to say the least. This is just a small phase in a grander scheme to update all of their weaponry to more powerful and technologically advanced models. When you look at Germany's weapons throughout the years they have always been at the forefront of design and technology. Handguns, submachine guns, grenade launchers and even anti-tank warfares tend to come from German origin. During the Second World War it was down to German researchers and arms manufacturers to come up with the latest technologies and weapons, in order to defeat the ‘enemy'. Nowadays a lot of these weapons, or the basis of these weapons, are used around the world. The Germans really do know what they're doing when it comes to technology.

Japan

Japan and technology go hand in hand, so it is no surprise to see this country on the list. They may be called the ‘Invisible Army', but the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force are definitely out there. And there is a lot of them. Despite being banned from having a traditional standing army, Japan has one of the most sophisticated and technologically advanced armed forces in the world. However, this country likes to keep quiet about armed relations and what exactly it is researching, designing or investing in; that in itself is a scary prospect. They have a $60 billion annual defense budget and the 6th best equipped troops in the world, putting them at equal pegging with most other countries on this list. It's hard to forget that the genius tech companies in Japan are also far more advanced than most other countries and have been working on robotic technologies for years. This means that they could easily be working on military weaponry that utilizes robotics, artificial intelligence and a whole lot more. Could we see the real life Iron Man coming out of Japan anytime soon? We hope so!

Final Thoughts

The United States is unquestionably the biggest, most powerful and most advanced of all of the military forces in the world, but that doesn't mean that the country doesn't have a great amount of competition right on its tail. The 7 countries above certainly have close to the same technology as the U.S. and there are many others that are also advanced in their military technology. Other countries that are also leading the way in advanced military technologies include India, Brazil, Germany, and Pakistan. Whether you are active in the army currently or have an interest in military information, the details listed here are certain to be of great use to your needs. Should the need arise to defend their country; the 7 listed above will have no problem whatsoever doing just that. Although some of these countries have less experience than that of the United States, it doesn't change the fact that they have the weapons, the man power and the resources to do just as much damage as the country.
